Nitro Whiplash Pics
Hey guys... here are some more pics of the nitro Whiplash. It now has the production style landing gear, production fan shroud, and a few other tweaks. It is an extremely simple build and has been a blast so far. I've got a lot of flights on it now and it has held up without issue so far. I've been murdering the tail especially trying to break it and it hasn't even flinched .

Looks good! I can't wait.

On the nitro version, are there any "gymnastics" you need to go through to align the clutch stack? It looks like it is all pre-aligned, but it is hard to tell. Is it like the Stratus where you need to loosen bolts and hover to finalize alignment in some way? Or is it like a Vibe SG where you need to push and pull the motor and clutch bell mount with loose bolts and eyeball the alignment before tightening?

Any comment are appreciated.

Thanks,

Ben

Don't think so as the internal clutch/fan hub is attached to the engine crankshaft with a one way bearing inside the internal clutch for starting.

The older X-Cell and Stratus models, it was important to have the engine aligned with the clutch assembly to prolong the dampers life.
It was done by having the engine mount loose, start it and let it idle to seat itself.

Looks like MA has done away with the dampers for the clutches now.

Hey Art, I talked to you last summer at the Rochester heli jamboree and you were flying the 55 and you were nice enough to spend some time with me to go over the 55 and its design features. I ended up buying one and it is my favorite heli now. Thanks!. You are a very good rep for MA. Hope to do the same this year in Rochester and see you fly the new Whiplash. It looks pretty nice. I would love to swap out my Trex 700 for an awsome American made product by Miniature Aircraft!. Russ
