If you are ready to get it in the air right now, why not go to a Hyperion motor of the same size? They are of a little higher quality and priced about the same,
I was under the impression they were almost identical motors. I have heard that they are made in the same place but hyperion has higher quality materials. I know the 450 size motors like the 2221-8 and 2221-6 have the exact same KV rating and the stats are identical all the way down the line. Maybe the bigger motors are the same as well.
You should have no problem getting a motor somewhere else. This guy seems like a real tool anyway. I am down to call him and ask for a tapered nut and a motor for my T-rex(or whatever he doesn't sell)!

Nobody has the motors but me and I reserve them for customers of my e-conversions. Let's see, do I make $18-20 bucks selling him unobtanium, e.g. by selling him a motor nobody else has . . . and risk losing an e-conversion Pantera sale? Are you kidding?

These are the facts of life and while I didn't owe him any explanation I took the time to speak with him man to man (instead of blowing smoke up his skirt). He's not the first to contact me for a motor and I don't see the point of lying.

Anyway, he threw a fit and threatened to post on RR, which he has. Moreover, I don't have to listen to someone rant in my ear and I did indeed hang up. Throw a fit in Walmart and see what happens!

In my view, when the little snot has to pay my bills he can be boss. Until them, I do what's best for my Pantera owners.

Please get both sides before falling all over yourself to condemn me!

Yup, called to ask about a motor his site shows in stock and I got "Hey look man, there's a kid on the internet...blah, blah, blah" "I'm not selling anything to anybody unless they buy a helicopter from me." I politely stated that I was looking for a motor for my new Henseleit TDR and that the motor I was interested in was shown in stock on the website. "I don't care what the website says I'm not selling you anything."

My parting comment to his attack was "I guess you're a jerk by nature and good luck with your business". Says it all right there really. What a tool. I had the pleasure of hanging up on him mid-sentence. /sigh

Additionally, the motor I was going to inquire about was listed as one thing and the picture was of a different motor (which was going to be my question as to which motor I would receive). Quality service from that guy I'd never expect or pay for.

Now I'll call my local distributor for Hacker and see if I get the same treatment in looking for a new motor for my Henseleit TDR. Can't be any worse of a reception to money offered I'm sure.

I've met the "kid" you're referring to and I'm quite sure that 6'2"+ man would make you into a yard stake if properly motivated. Based on how my inquiry was handled he's got all the local help he'd need in that respect.

Just for the record let me quote his comments so they don't get "lost" in the forums of heli history...

So if I buy a Pantera I can never sell it to anyone because you will not support them since they did not buy it from you? Business must be very robust for you to have the attitude you do.AMA Leader Member

Guys.... I've heard nothing but good things about the Tiger 50 and Pantera 50... and I'm not just saying that because I had a couple. If you can't get parts from anywhere else, I'm not sure what to say. The helicopters are good. I hope that the new owner of both of my helis will get top notch service as I would expect from any hobby shop that I'm going to spend money at. I work hard for my money as does everyone else in this hobby -- we don't have time for games.

Based on this thread and the distributor's post it seems very clear how they will be treated. I feel for the guys you sold those birds to. Really, I do feel for them sincerely. And so goes the death of another R/C heli manufacturer trampled by the ethics and abusive nature of it's distributor. Makes one wonder what McDonald's he'll end up working in when the dust settles.

Free bump to keep unwary buyers as far from this model/business as possible.

dhollein,

For the record, the Audacity Tiger is actually an Ornith from Robbe. The Pantera is an interpretation of the Ornith but is exclusive to John Beech. It's what you get if you take an Ornith and start modifying it to make it more 3D capable. I think the Pantera flies well but in my experience flies a little heavy in feel and proved to be a little too fragile to suit me. The Ornith is strictly a sport flying heli. When the Pantera was $199 it was a great deal on a nice flying heli. At $399, there are other choices PLUS you will have to deal with John at some point.
With all that said, I do like some of the stuff that he has tried to do. Importing an alternative sport fiberglass and 3D carbon blade at aggressive pricing is probably popular. I am hoping he finishes developing his 4 blade head that he advertises. I am definitely on board for one of those. He also has developed or some Pantera owners have created their own electric, oversize nitro (Big Block-usually a 91 engine)and undersize nitro(Cub-550 blades and OS32 or 37 engine) helis all based on the Pantera.

To the OP and everyone else, having read John's response about the electric motor in question, I don't necessarily blame him for not selling a motor if the intent is to hold them back for his electric fliers. I do think they should be removed from his website though. It has a misleading feel to it and of course I agree with everyone that the entire situation could have been handled better.

All your "little snot" customers do PAY your bills... dummy.

It's obvious to me and many others you MUST have another full-time job other than your heli business, because with an attitude like that, you'd be on welfare.

I can't believe you're an actual full scale pilot (so you claim), please stay out of my airways when I'm at work.

What a knob. , you think you have the cat's-ass of all model helicopters... give me a break.

I feel your response is uncalled for because you don't know the full story.

The poster who started this is a 16 year old boy who threw a temper tandrum on the phone (of the caliber of one thrown by a 2-year old) simply because he couldn't have his way. This despite the fact a) my website clearly states the motors are for my e-conversion customers and b) my taking time to try and explain why I have this policy.

Frankly, I'm of an age I don't feel I have to answer to children so I took it for a while and when he continued ranting and raving I hung up. He called back, and worse, subsequently pursuaded unknowing friends to call to badger me about it as well (and while I applaud his friends for being loyal, at least I'm fair because I give the benefit of the doubt to his friends not knowing the whole story either).

Moreover, he didn't care about my reasoning and threatened to ruin me by posting on RR, and other forums because he couldn't have his way. How do you react to threats?

Ultimately, I have a pretty decent reputation in this business (having been engaged in it longer than the boy has been alive). I assure you had he thrown a snit like he did with me in a bank, in a hobby shop, or even in a McDonalds he would have been escorted out. I stand by my actions in looking out for the interests of my Pantera owners.

In closing, I reiterate . . . you don't know the full story.

OP, If you are dead set on the motor contact scorpion and you will get one as soon as possible. Like noted above there are also other motor options, I wanted the 4025 550kv for my Fusion and just went with a 4035 500kv

And you Mr. Jerkoff don't realize that the man you slander isn't 16 years old. You just seem to get off on running your mouth to someone that saw something on your site and wanted to buy it. In response you've attacked him in an open forum. DESPITE any conversation you had with him I called in reference to a motor for my $2000 Henseleit TDR (read: not a cheap clone like you offer to the hobby) and was treated as if I'm 16 too. I'm in fact 40 years old and would take great pleasure in stuffing your head as far up your ass as my arm can reach. Your complete lack of respect to the members of this hobby is quite clear and goes to show WHO you are.

I can afford a $2000 helicopter, get my wife into the hobby with her own bird and can WELL afford a plane ticket to Florida to teach your mouth a lesson that your ass can't cash.

Pinkie incoming no doubt but careful of the toes you step on today for they may be attached to the ass you have to kiss tomorrow. Your methodology, lack of respect and business practices are quite clear. So for YOU Mr. Ego I take what Mr. Ryder determines I deserve for telling you exactly how it is. Feel free to PM me and/or email me anytime and I'll be happy to stuff your motor up your ass for you.

I guess we won't ever see a picture of the E-Pantera in the first post. There seems to be a lot of people willing to trash JBeech just because he is an easy target. I ran my own automotive repair shop for almost 30 years. There were several folks that I refused and they didn't like it either. This customer was not listening from the start and it just got loud from there. I like the way John has explained this and know how he feels. The customer is not always right. I hate it when someone is threatened! TimT

I run my own business and do quite well making sure everyone I talk to is treated with respect and the best service I can offer. I can also spell other members' names as a bonus. I'm riled by this jerk so don't take offense but if you're going to choose sides at least spell my name right.
