unless the scoring method has changed, you can actually outright crash in one known round and one unknown round and still win the event

twice in the same type of round though is curtains

the scoring process may have changed in the last coupla years though.

It's unfortuanate that pilots are having difficulties with their models, especially this early into the competition. That always has to be hard on them, when they've prepared so hard for this event. Best of luck to all who had problems, and hopefully it's easy to get back up!

Wow
The level of flying at XFC is amazing and I'm getting a front row seat. Jamie's model did hit a pole and crashed, really unfortunate as he had an EXCELLENT flight in progress. One of the big airplanes had the batteries come loose and fly out through the bottom of the airplane and damage the model. I bet he can repair it over night but that also was unfortunate. I left the field for dinner before the second round scores were posted but will try and get the two day scores and post tomorrow. Also tomorrow night is the big night fly, which is supposed to be awesome. Bobby Watts has been working on some really special night fly stuff.
After the contest flying was over, I got a chance to hover Nick's FAI model. He has done. a LOT of work on the basic ENV model and it really sits well in hover. He offered to let me take it upstairs but it's the model he plans on taking to the Worlds and 'm too chicken less something happen.

Bert K. was kinda bummed about last year so he droped out this year...:/
This is 100% not true, I was indeed bummed because some things didn't make sense, but this is usually what happens in competition. I didn't have any time to prepare last year, so I deserved my spot.

This year was going to be a repeat of last for me simply because I haven't had any time to fly, between family issues and work, there is just simply not enough time to prepare and commit

Good luck to all the competitors!
