Titan x50 Gyro Question
I am in the final days of building the Titan x50. I am struggling with running the servo wires to the receiver. I have moved the gyro to the top deck, the receiver to the middle and the battery on the bottom. When I put the canopy on, it touches the Gy401 on the front edge. Here is my question will this mess me up when it comes time to fire it up?

All Help is appreciated

The canopy vibrating on the gyro could induce some gyro vibrations....at least, that's how I see it.

Yes it will rub and cause problems. I'm pretty sure most of the newer Futabas will fit as well as the JR370. I'm running a quark which easily clears. The only other alternative is to move the gyro to the second deck and stack your receiver on top of the battery or strap the battery under the tray.Chris

The GY520 fits nicely. Can't wait until the weekend to fly the X50 some more. My Raptor 50v2 is now collecting dust....

Thanks guys I was just hoping that I did not have to move the wires again. It seems no matter how I run the wires I still end up at the front of the heli a big pile of crap. I think I am going to switch the gyro over to a Quark that I have and I should be fine. This is my first Nitro so nothing seems easy.

Thanks Again

Yes the wiring really takes some time to look good on this heli, there just isn't much room. There are some pics in my gallery that might help you.Chris

I had quite a few problems with gyro's on the X50, started with GP780 but could not get rid of tail wag, GY401 fitted, tail wag almost gone but not holding that well, finally I fitted a Spartan DS760 on the top deck and it works a treat, no waggies and holds really well.
There is plenty of clearance on the top deck between the gyro and canopy, plus I find the canopy on the X50 to be a tighter fit than the normal Raptor, seems to vibrate a lot less.

I put a Quark on it and fired it up for the first time last night. I think it is going to work just fine. I was to busy worrying about the motor and breaking it in to pay much attention to the tail. I ran two tanks through it last night. The second being 12:30 am under a street light. Man that was cool I am 48 years old and it was still was a rush. My black lab and myself killing mosquitoes in the middle of the night doesn't get much better.

This is how I mounted my 401

I painted it with black lacquer then epoxy. I then Ca'ed the mount to the bottom of the boom mount. I have flown at least a gallon with no signs of fuel soaking in or bothering it. Gyro holds rock solid.

A new motor that has not been broken in and is running rich will almost always cause a wag. Maybe that was the culprit in the first two gyros. Doesn't matter now though cause those spartans are awesome.
