Yesterday was my 3rd day with the 1.10 update and Rotational Equalization (Piro Comp).

The unit does perform exceptionally well, great job FUTABA!

I honestly can't tell a different with the Phase Equalization turned "ON" in my Rave ENV Nitro. Maybe I'll pay closer attention today.

I think that running much lower gains in HOLD and NORMAL modes are they way to go and then higher gains in your IDLEUP1 and IDLEUP2.

On my Rave ENV standard Radix 690 blades, Radix 105's on the tail, 120 deg CCPM and using the inner holes (modified geometry) and BLS 351 servos at 6.0V regulated.

TAIL/AIL/ELE
HOLD (75/35/40)
NORMAL (75/45/50) 1600RPM
IDLEUP1 (80/65/75) 1750RPM
IDLEUP2 (80/70/80) 1925RPM

I think running separate gains makes the heli feel very natural.

I'm going to experiment with I-GAIN today.

I did some detailed follow-up fiddling with phase equalization because I had gone back and gotten my headspeed tached (electric) to make sure I had those exact values programmed into the governor. I'm not using the 750's governor, but those numbers still need to be in there.

Let me make a few set up suggestions. Initially fly your model with only the rotational equalization turned on. Adjust the Rot.His until the model pirouettes as best you can get it both in hover and in your traveling pirouetting maneuvers. Expect it to work very well. Also, please get your model trimmed out really well because if you're subconciously holding in cyclic correction(s), it's never going to fly as well as it can.

NEXT, once you have the Rot.His valued tweaked to where you think it's best, turned on the phase equalization. Go back and do all the flying things you were doing to tweak the rotational equalization alone. It's either going to be better still, you won't be able to tell much difference, or things MIGHT get a little worse in your perception. As noted before, PLEASE make sure you have correct headspeed numbers in the governor program. I double damn guarantee you WILL EFF UP the piro comp's performance if you don't take the time to do this. If the model flies the same or better with phase equalization turned ON, you're done. Go fly. If it doesn't seen to fly as well, turn it back off and go with the rotational equalization alone. Compare it back and forth with phase equalization turned on and just to be sure, then make your final call. After that, please go enjoy yourself flying your model.

Should that be done with different piro speed?

Take the best average piro rate for traveling and stationary piros and tune the number to that. 16 was too high for my slower contest piros but good on my 3D model.

Just an update for the update I got really to try out my 600e yesterday. It is flying absolutely fantastic!!! I was having a blast doing FF piros the whole length of our field. Also my poor 700n FB got a sunburn from sitting in the pits with its blades folded up all day

All I can say it +++++++++++1 for the update

I was down at MHA this past weekend and updated quite a few CGY750s for people. The feedback from the update was fantastic. Everyone seemed to be amazed at how well it flew. We even had a few V-Bar die-hards try it and they were extremely impressed with the performance. There were comments of a lot of v-bars that might be for sale after trying 1.1 on the 750, lol.Art Hughes

Update! After getting a good amount of flights on the update this weekend... I have to say the improvement in piro stability is incredible and a must have for many. Unfortunately I have turned off the features because I simply can't fly with them..... I really like the feel of the cgy750 before the update and have 2 identical machines set up exactly the same and after flying them back to back one piro comp turned on and the other off, I just simply felt better flying with the piro comp off. I love making the corrections.... Call me old fashioned but its just something that I'd rather leave the same. But like I said earlier, I felt the improvement when I flew it back to back! IT is by far a really nice upgrade for those of which do not like the way it flew without the compensator. Happy flying to all!

Ps. Phase Equalizer was turned off on my machines when I flew them.
Dr. Ben is right about setting your machine up RIGHT before turning that feature on. Although tried both on and off and My machines flew great with it off!

After tinkering with the 750 with V-1.10 for the past week these are the settings I have found work well for me. Also after hearing reports of very hot servos this morning I rushed out and put on a 10 minuet flight, a mix of 3D/sport flying/hovering and my servos where barely warm to the touch, maybe 100/110 degrees-F and it looks like I’m using roughly 600mah for a 10 minuet flight.

Are you sure ROT.Equa set to NORMAL is correct? My 550 needs to be reversed, but as far as I know the design should be almost identical. Just wondering.

I have not played with a 550 so I don’t know if there the same but I have re confirmed that yes my Equa. Direction in set to normal and is working correctly.

easy way to tell if you need to revers your ROT. Hold the heli your hand and spin it. If the washout arms move up and down like crazy. Then you need to revers it. if they are mostly stable, your fine. (you don't have to spin it all the way 90 is fine, you can see it easily on bigger helis)

Yep that's what I did as per the instructions, I even reversed it for grins, it's obvious when it's wrong.

I am just curious because I do not want to have to buy a battery to do the update. Is it possible to update the 750 without a battery pack. I am guessing I can plug my BEC into an open port on the 750 and do the update that way. Is this correct?Team Heli Wholesaler

@rich m - Yes, you can plug in your BEC or just plug your lipo (or whatever battery you're flying with) right into the unit, it's rated for 8.4 volts.

With my first 750, I still had to buy a $40 programmer. Of course, they'll be free from here, but still, it's no better than Vbar at this point when it comes to updates.

On an unrelated note, setting up the second one was much easier. Didn't even open the manual.
