The better part of two decades of competing with FB models in the presence of the best pilots to have ever touched a transmitter has taught me a great deal about the black art of FB set up. I know exactly how to program mix out virtually all the quirks that most guys complain about with FB models. I can make a FB model sit in a hover, roll on a string, and loop or flip on axis with precious little needed extra attention from the pilot. My 750 models pretty well fly the exact same way except I've not had to do the mixing and hours of set up time at the field to get them to fly as described. If anyone has a 750 in a model, and that flies like a FB model with none of the mixers I've used for years in play (IOW it pitches up it rolls, loops off heading, or otherwise displays classic uncompensated FB model tendencies), then you've missed a good deal of the boat with some aspect of set up, because it should and does fly WAY better than that.
Period!

Stupid discussion about comparison. I want to know how the new firmware features operate an perform on an electric. Stay on topic.

so, lets take a head count.
who is very happy with the cgy750 and will not trade it for a vbar?
this way i will know if i should pick one up this weekend.
With the firmware update the CGY is an excellent gyro but it’s a little hard to tune. I also fly SK720 and it’s much easier to setup and tune. I like the way my SK720’s fly but I hope with more tuning the CGY will be just as good. The SK720 governor has a much wider range of sensors and has better EP helicopter logic. Foe me the choice would be between the CGY and SK720 and not the Vbar.

I do like the CGY and will not think of getting rid of it.

Onething no one has mentioned here is the I gain setting. The vbar guys have been whining about the "locked" in feel. With this new update, the user can increase the I gain setting to give the heli a more locked in feel. Do I understand this correctly?

The Rotational Equalization (Piro Comp) alone really locks in the heli. The way I understand it, the I-Gain will let you trade stability for agility. The higher the I-Gain, the lower you have to run your AIL/ELE gains, so really, tune it to your preference. Mine is at default and frankly the best way I can describe the performance is that it flies just like VBar 5.1 with a better tail, better governor, and without the lag.

I agree just turning on Piro Comp and keeping all the other settings at default really did it for me. I really couldn’t ask for more. As far as I am concerned pirouettes are excellent.

The update was quite easy to do, although i wish there was a way to backup my settings.

I really like all 3 of my CGY750's so far and can see from the Igain addition it seems to hold its lines better with less correction for sure. I only have 2 issues in comparison to my other systems. First one that has been bugging me with my X5's is that my fast forward flight cyclic is far faster than when it is stationary (AFR's 8 degrees). The issue is less evident on my larger Fusion50 and adjusting AFR's down does no good. If anything, i've had better luck going above 8 degrees in getting a more consistent rate when stationary vs fast forward flight. I'm pretty sure the rate.cst should help but i'm not sure which way to go and how to make sense of what the percentages mean.

The other issue is the swash leveling procedure and trim flight. I have found that the only way to get the heli to not drift or stay level in a simple pitch pump is to use a swash leveler during setup and making sure it is perfect. Then instead of doing a trim flight..to verify that it stays put. For some reason every time i have done a trim flight regardless if i only used the 750 neutral points or used the TX. I would get a slight dip to one side or other during pitch-pumps...mostly down. Every link measured out exactly etc. Anyhow, i dont recall ever spending so much time on my swash.

You point out exactly the issue I have on both my T-rex 500 and 550. For some reason, how much I level the swash, when I do a pitch pump the heli does not go straight up. It always gives a bit aileron (and I think a little bit elevator). It does correct itself after you slow down or stop. Like if the gyro did not responde quickly enough to keep things level. Even with fast (backwards) loopings the heli does not come out straight. I think it is a phasing issie. But the setups is quit spot on and already did everything I can. The new Phasing equalizaton feature does not seem to correct this for me other than in piroettes.

At first I thought this would only be a problem with my 500. But apparently they do it both. I am having a very hard time to get this right.

Other than that I like the CGY750 very much!

I dont have the issue so much on my bigger fusion 50 but on the X5's i did. The thing i found that best corrects it was i made sure to measure all my links with a digital caliper using servo horn attachments, and ensured they were perfectly spot on. Assuming you had done that already, i then wrote down all my settings and reset my swash, ail, & ele menus. Went back in put all my settings for swash and used bubble swash leveler to make sure it was perfect...checking to enusre pitch was identical on both blades at FWD,AFT,and left and right. instead of doing a trim flight i just made sure that it did not drift at all in slow hover and in Normal mode. The other thing i needed to do with X5 was increase my AVCS.Dmp or else it would be knocked over by wind. 98 to 100 or 101...but make sure you have enough resolution first.

Guys any suggestions on my original question?

How are you suppose to use Phase equalizer correctly with a 450 size heil?

Do i just use a half speed (eg: 3700 = 1650) or just use max for all flight speeds

Phase Equalizer
I read on another forum that it always used 1500 as the default headspeed if you are not using the governor so the Phase Equalizer will never work correctly. You should just turn it off.

I’m not an expert so this may be incorrect. We need full explanation from the experts on this subject. If it is possible then we need a detailed setp by step tuning procedure.

If your not using a Gov. you need to change the default (i.e 1500) to the approx. headspeed of the heli.

Yes but apporx headspeed is not off by 700 rpms. Anyway i hope the will allow an override value to be inputed up to 5000 atleas (this would cover a 250)
