I agree with BigBadBaker. If the seller has no honor, then the stuff was probably junk anyway

Where's the dishonor in selling something that's for sale when no deal was arranged?

The guy obviously never committed to buying.
He said he'd probably take it but wanted the sellers phone number first.
Then someone else said they'd take it and paid for it.

Well I guess I am old fashioned, but I think you should give first refusal to the first who responds, if that falls through then next in line, etc. It is the gentlemanly to do. I just bought a muffler from KopterKat. He had 2 gasser mufflers for sale here: https://rc.runryder.com/t645652p1/
I pmed him back and forth about one a few times, then said I would take it. He said he had one person that had expressed interest before me, and he wanted to give him first chance. I said fine, let me know. Turns out he bought the muffler, and I ended up buying the other one, even though I would have preferred the first. IMHO this was the right thing to do.

Thats all fine if the correspondence is there. But this cat wanted the seller to give his personal phone number to him so he could talk to him , in order to make himself feel comfortable before buying. No seller should have to give a potential buyer a phone number just to make him feel better. You don't feel comfortable buying the item?.. don't buy it! Go to a website that carries the item new and pay full price. If your looking for a deal , the buyer doesn't make the rules, the seller lay's it out and you take it or leave it!

First right of refusal? hell your not renting a house with the option to buy should the owner sell! No potential buyer here has the right to hold up a sale of an item.

1. He said he'd probably take it but wanted the sellers phone number first.

2.HUGE difference in retail sales and classified ads.

3.If you want it, PAY for it, If not, Keep Looking!

4.Selling cheap instead of throwing it out is doing the BUYER a favor

5. you have no right to ask for personal info to talk about the item for sale, it is what it is. No trying to haggle the price down or promises to pay next week please hold it etc. Its not fair to the seller.

6.You being in sales would tell me that you probably took advantage of good folks and knowing that in the back of your mind you dont want the same thing to happen to you! Sorry you feel that way.

7.No one is making a living selling used parts here buddy no one! Are you telling everyone here that you being in public product sales dont have a mark up? are you saying you give the customer the rock bottom best money saving price ? You have no vested interest in making a dollar off that customer? yeah right! Whats posted for sale here is what you see and what is asked for in price. Who are you to demand the seller give you his personal phone number so you will feel comfortable hearing his / her voice? Please guy dont make this issue more than what it is.. your own paranoia .

8.It sounds like you offended the guy with your questions so he told you to take a hike,

9.HUGE difference in retail sales and classified ads. It is almost a complete 180 role reversal in each persons position of power so to speak. In retail the seller kisses the buyers ass to make the sell, in classified ad sales it is much the other way around. Your profession in sales has blinded you to this fact

Sorry to have been sucked back in to this but above are some of the most interesting, ludicrous, and moronic statements I have ever heard.

1.Never said anything like this Mckrackin made this up completely
I actually said I am very interested and can paypal money this evening.

2.I said sales. Never mentioned retail sales. There is more than one kind of sales.

3.I can paypal this evening. Pretty consise I thought.

4.Call me crazy but one of the most ignorant statements I have ever heard. To try and put this into perspective... I have a widget that I have no use for. I spent good money on said widget and now it just lays about gathering dust. I decide to recoupe some of my money by selling said widget. By doing this I am not receiving any benifit (for money can not possibly be of any benefit to the seller). I am only doing someone else a favor by allowing them to purchase said widget.

5.I live in America, I served this country in the military, I think I have every right to provide someone my phone number and ask them to call me. If they choose not to I am OK with that. The rest of the statement does not apply example... specifically stated I had no interest in haggling price it was fair, specifically stated I could paypal that evening(Possibly bad choice of word, "evening" probalbly should have said immediately, oops my bad.

6. I don'teven know where to start with this comment. However I find it simply rude and extremely presumptuous as well as an unprovoked personal attack to even say that I have "probably" done such a thing and then to assume I have a guilty conscious because I had intended to question a seller about bad feedback from one of their sales

7. I never said anyone ever had made a living from buying or selling used heli parts on RR. The rest of this is really just crazy and perplexing. I never demanded anything, all of this statement is conjecture and assumption and not one factually based statement relative to what I said.

8. Never said anything to the "guy " only said can paypal tonight, very interested and provided my phone # and asked him to call

9. "Retail sales" I never mentioned retail sales "Power" and "Ass kissing. I think at this point we have lost all context to the post. I am blinded by my proffesion? How so buy communicating with my clients and providing them a service?

To clarify I was not miffed over not getting the items. I was miffed about attempting to contact him 13 minutes after the original post and being the first doccumented potential buyer and then an hour an a half later being told it was sold with no other form of communication. I thought that if I were the seller I would have at least answered the PM and said something like deal pending or not interested in speaking with you or it is what it is if you want items send money. I would have been ok with any response. I was once again only miffed because I was the first (according to the post) to contact him excluding others PMing and not posting sent PM That is all. I then created this thread to see if I was not understanding the selling process and what I could do to ensure the "winning" of an item item in the future.

I did learn that if you want a "hot" item you simply must through caution to the wind and simply ask for paypal address. However for me when spending over $100.00 I will choose to take my chances and provide my phone # and ask the seller to call. I think that it is curtious and so far have made a new friend in every case that I have used this "tactic" It is amazing how much most of us have in common and in some cases I have had multiple conversations after sending the money, mostly about life and the joy of our great hobby. Call me what you like and attack me for my view on this if you like however I will always try to communicate with someone verbally on any type of sale involving my hard earned money and by doing so I will look forward to meeting new friends

To put it simply...You have no grounds to start a thread complaining about this turn of events.

A used item in a classified is being sold by an individual to an individual.

It is for sale until it's not.

It gets sold to whoever the seller wants to sell it to.

There is no right of refusal.First come first serve unless the seller wants to sell it to someone else.
The seller is under no obligation to explain himself and the shopper has no right to ask for an explanation and no explanation is owed to anyone in any case.

The item is simply for sale to anyone the seller chooses to sell to and there are no circumstances that would make a shopper entitled to anything.
I literally never use the word literally right.

I can't honestly say that I can think of any instance where I wouldn't give out my phone number to address questions. I'd much rather have a 5 minute conversation than a long drawn out series of e-mail or PM. Besides, damn near everyone is listed anyhow, so it's not like your phone number is some big secret. My thoughts are if you have to hide from your buyers, you probably aren't an honest seller in the first place . . .

your exactly correct Mccrackin!!!

it is your choice 100% to be curtious or not!!

this is a spot i got in on this site. i had 2 scorpion motors but i needed 1 so i decided to sale one i posted and a guy said ill take it and asked for paypal info. a day goes by no payment then another guy asked if i sold it i said no and he asked for paypal info so i gave it to hime and he paid. at almost the exact time the other guy paid also!!!! so now out of respect i sold both my motors and i had to buy a new one!!!

kinda stinks for me but i let the second guy to pay know what had happened and i was mailing him a motor anyaway.

i could of just refunded him BUT i made a customer and if i sell anything else on here im sure they will both buy from me again!!!

its not that anybody did anything wrong or they are a bad person its just that there is no resect for your fellow heli brother on this site!!!

mccrackin if you feel like you did the right thing then you did nobody can see what the pms said but you!!!

if im not wrong we have had dealings in the past with no problems

I did some research and I found the items your talking about:
https://rc.runryder.com/t648448p1/

It seems as though you posted "PM sent" and then "ASSUMED" you were first. Obviously you weren't first and therefore did not get the items, end of story. You ranted on that listing and now your ranting here. Give it up man, you lost. People lose different circumstances every day. Only some cry about it and some move on. Right of refusal is correct, BlackJackdealer used his right to refuse to sell to you. You speak about people being ignorant and moronic, I would tred lightly there sir. You are no saint. Your true colors are flying high and I'm glad you showed them as we will never do business, not even for a stick of gum. I strongly suggest that you close this thread.

Maybe so....I don't remember all my sales.
I sell a bunch of stuff and it's always good stuff.
If it's not good,it's advertised as bad.
I have sold two wrecked helis here.

Both buyers got a great deal in my opinion.
I sold a Trex 600ESP with a broken boom and no blades for $250.
That included a bunch of 5000mAh lipos and everything.

I sell stuff to get rid of it.Not because it's my job.
I won't sell here outright any more because a new thread starts every few days about somebody crying about seller etiquette or some other crap.

I sell on eBay now and may share a link to it here.

I have given more stuff away than I've sold and usually pay 100% of the shipping unless it's big.

I have a box of free stuff going out in the morning.
I gave one member four JR DS285's,a RJX FBL head for a 450,a stock flybarred head for a 450,a new in the package Align tail for a 450 and a new Align tail rotor set for a 450.

Stuff I don't need.
I gave it to someone on my site and didn't list it here because someone would have cried over free not being shipped fast enough or something.

It's a shame really.
This used to be a good place to sell and give away but spoiled crybaby buyers have ruined it.
Bad buyers breed bad sellers.
I literally never use the word literally right.
