V50E - Build thread (pre-production kit)
One of our local pilots has a Vision 50E pre-production kit he is building. He has been kindly posting a build thread on one of our local heli forums. Has lots of pics so you can see many of the components...etc

Hey, 90 size head for 90 class power. It makes sense to me. Even the 2.6mm CF frame thickness says this heli is ready for some big power.

So, when are they being released and who is going to get one of these?

Hang on! 700 size motor, almost 700 sized batteries and an 800 sized ESC! How heavy is this thing?!

Apart from that my first thought is how weak the main gear looks, it needs to be beefier for all that power.

Probably not any heavier than a typical 600E class heli. Aside from the ESC, everything on that heli is standard fare on a Logo 600.

What does power and landing gear strength have to do with each other?

main gear
The motor is 130g heavier than a 4025 motor usually found on 600E's, the ESC is 70g heavier than an ICE 80HV which is more than enough for a high voltage 600 and the 5s 5000 45C packs are 800g each instead of the usual say 2x 6s 3300mah packs found on HV 600 setups which are just over 500g each. Therefore it is roughly 800g heavier than most 600E's!

This kind of setup is becoming common with the newer 600/50 electrics..
Many Fusion 50 owners are running similar setups. Yes, they are heavier than the 'normal' 600 machine but the extra power has no problems with the extra weight.. They are absolute missiles...

The CC160 ESC is overkill but its probably a case of using what was available.. Ive read that Matt Botos is using a CC160 to test his new E6 heli... Better to be running over spec'd gear than under spec'd..

I do agree that the main gear does look like the weak link. Perhaps, this pilot has been asked to stress test the current gear to see how much punishment is can take before it strips?

Im sure power is not a problem with such a setup! Where does the power come from to overcome the extra gravitational pull when the heli is knife edge?? Tick tocking manuevers will take much more pitch to keep the heli from falling.

Power is not everything in a 3D heli.

My concern was not of stripping the teeth as they are mod 1 and correct pinion mesh is basic stuff. My concern was how weak the 'spokes' looked, judging by the new gear I was not the only one concerned.60% of the time, it works every time!
