Radio Brands go full circle
Loyal JR user goes Futaba! (again)

I learned with Futaba. I was loyal to Futaba. Then out came all this 2.4ghz technology. JR was one of the first companies to the plate with their DX7. When the DX7 came out, FASST wasn't even a rumor. There wasn't even an indication that Futaba had plans on going the 2.4ghz route

I bought one of those launch DX7's and sold off all my Futaba stuff. For several years to follow I was loyal to JR, upgrading to the x9303 as soon as that became available.

So here I am now, 6 am and playing on the internet. I check out HeliProz. I'm looking at the 8FG. Nice looking radio at a decent price. Then I look at the 10C. (edit: I went with an 8fg instead) I see I needed to add to cart to see the price, which I did.. "Wow, thats cheap", I said. I click around some more. There, I see a Memorial Day sale for 10% off all orders over $250.
What does this net me? It nets me a 10% off an already discounted, brand new Futaba 10C for about the same price as the 8FG!

What a great day and a great sale to choose a new radio!!

I'll still keep my 9303 as long as I have so many of those Bind & Fly models. Maybe I'll downgrade it to a DX7 or something and use the extra ca$h to buy some Futaba rx's or something.

10C, A nice radio. But with the same features offered with the 8FG and also programmable updates and more channels, Why did you choose the 10C?

Funny you should ask. For the past 45 minutes, I'm reconsidering buying the 10C and going 8FG.

One of the things is I thought the 10C might better suit me for flying Giant Scale planks.

Well the 8FG now has 12 + 2 channels, therefore the 8FG is a better deal. Even if you don't get the 8FG super you could upgrade, yourself, your 8FG to a 12 + 2 channel super. Uses SD card therefore you can put it in any computer. The 10 uses a Futaba CAMPAC. If it is not to late get the 8FG.Team Synergy, Rail blades, Team Scorpion, V-Team

IMO, I have flown buddies heli's with their 10C radios and I personally did not care for the weight of the radio. I purchased a 8FG this year and I have been very happy with the decision coming from a 7C.

I recently ordered the 8fg super with the s-bus RX.
I'm still waiting for it patiently as it cost me less than 4 bills.
Looking forward to flying the 8fg with the CGY750 fbl unit.
I'm sure I'll have no regrets shelving my x9303.
My kids should do well with the 9303 for a few years.

Jeff, you talked me in to it. The 8FG Super is now on order. With the 10% off memorial day sale it is definitely not a bad price.
Now to figure out how to cancel the order with the 10C. An email should take care of that.

Jeff, how do I send you the $63 you just saved me?

8fg is a MUCH better system than the 10. The 10 is just an updated 9c.

I just got the X9503 a few weeks ago and have not used it yet. Still on my Dx7se, just too lazy to program a few models into it but....

I have a Fusion 50 FBL and just got the Rave ENV FBL last week and went with CGY750s so I got a 8FGHS also and WOW what a nice radio. There is soo much you can do with the 8FG its crazy, I planned on using the 8FG a few weeks then selling it when the sbus-jr/spektrum adapters released but its a keeper as I really like it.

Great value and once you get use to the programming its a breeze to do. At first I was a bit upset that Futaba was so slow to release the sbus adapter, figured they wanted guys like me to get a futaba tx so I was going to tuff it out and wait as long as it took to use the CGY750s on my radios but now I wish I would have ordered the 8FG months ago.

Dood Im sure you will really like the radio congrats

At first I thought it was lame Futaba didn't release the adapter to at least coincide with the release of their FBL system. But now I see it as a pretty smart marketing move. I'm sure they were well aware of people being on the fence with JR/Spektrum's admitted problems with DSM-whatever-version-they're-up-to-now technology.

*Edit, I just noticed that is the airplane TX, looks the DSMX 9503s are going to be available in a few days, one site said early June so maybe everyone gets them soon:

Do it now during the Memorial Day Sales!! 10% is a lot of money on high-ticket items.

Also, don't forget about the Futaba trade up program. That offer lasts through the summer http://www.futaba-rc.com/promos/trade-up-program-2011/

(live free or die)

I got the 8FG last winter. I struggled at first getting used to the programming wheel and assigning switches. But once I got used to it,this is quite a TX. I am very happy with it.
I still have my JR9303 though. It's 72mhz. I have a lot of airplanes and converting all of them would be very expensive. People are almost giving away those Berg receivers, and I never had even a glitch with one.
But for me switching from JR to Futaba there was (still is) a learning curve. I think you made the right choice though.
