Need help on custom main shaft for trex 700
I have a Huey UH1-C with Trex 700 mechanics. Anyone owns or work in a machine shop that understands our hobby? I'm wondering if someone can help fabricate a 12mm main shaft for the trex 700 that is about 40mm longer than the stock ones. Attached is a stock picture of the main shaft. In other words, the top section of the main shaft that I'm trying to achieve is 40mm longer. So it will be 138.8mm for the top section instead of 91.8mm and the bottom section will remain the same at 111.2mm. The overall finish total length should be be 250mm. I'm willing to send payment thru paypal if the cost will be reasonable enough for the fabrication/modification. Please let me know and many thanks to everyone's time.

+40 mm ... EDIT... I did the math for 3G
EDIT... see how the sketch can throw you Off... ahaha

I understand how you would like a Main Shaft Machined with +40mm on the 91.8 side, thus briging the a.o.l to 243mm.

91.8mm
+ 40.0mm
------------------ cal. Dim.
131.8mm ( not 138.8mm )... that would be +47mm

111.2mm
+ 131.8mm
------------------ cal. Dim.
243.0mm ( 111.2 + 91.8= 203 o.a.l ) + 40.0mm = 243.0 mm a.o.l. ( not 250mm )

Any mom-n-pop shop can machine this for you with out problems... though it will be price-E if you want it grind true/straight.
The average rate per hour on a shop depends on the shop itself. Can be on the low $20 to $75+... all depends on what the shop does and their work load.

Hope this helps as your sketch will throw Peeps off with your a.o.l bein off aswell.
( I'm via my cell, hope it makes sense.)... sorry on bein a Smart a$$ with the math thing.

I see how you want to avoid a blade strike... hehe

Has 12mm bearing stock. You can cut and drill your own on the cheap.

The 700 flybarred head sits higher than the Fbl head. Just run longer linkages to the blades.

You will also need to be concerned about strength, finish and heat treat requirements. The main shaft is not just a piece of round stock. The older I get, the fewer things seem worth waiting in line for.

Interesting thread, just a thought, will you need to calculate any additional width the finish will add to the shaft?
