Ray's manual
Each to their own
Remind me, were you flying in the early 90's, I sure you posted saying you started much later than that

The fuel

I flew with high castor content fuel,

So presumally you wiped the plastic coated blades down after each flight, to prevent any ingress of oil to the wood

Metal blades needed some grinding to fit into my grips,
Metal blades needed some grinding to fit into my grips, as my cap screws are larger than normal.

Matt, Is this post correct?

Are these the bespoke (custom made) 'M' blades?

You are going to grind the blades to make them fit, surely that is going to jepordise the integraty of the blades

Have you consulted 'M' blades about this

Ps, to save you looking it up you started flying in September 2003

Yet Peter,

I made the modification with detailed consent from Harmut Jahn !

They were not ground but machined.

Nigel, Thanks for the update
Does this mean that all 'M' blades might need to be altered, or can they be ordered and made to the correct grip size?

Zealous blade grips.
Nigel, the M blades you showed me at the Vario day, had thin ends
These are photo's of my Zealous grips,
20mm open gap, with two 3mm spacer washers
How thick or thin were Matt's blades to require skimming?

sorry about the quality one with flash the other not

Nothing to do with skimming - it was the distance between the cap head bolt in the spindle to the blade fixing bolt.
The radius needed to be reduced to 29mm'from 30mm as the original root end was hitting the bolt head.
