Have you been using the same battery, is it a battery you have used before. It would not be the first time a battery has had the wires connected incorrectly at the factore thus giving you reverse voltage without being able to see it.
Just a thought.
If it cannot fly on it's own, then I won't be much help....

It is the same battery. When I plug the ESC into the rx and plug in the battery, everything powers up fine.“The helicopter is evidence of how man's imagination can be given physical form.”

Did you check what dkshema said about the Spartan's servo output pulse width? It should be 1520 NOT 760.

Also the DS620 does not like 6v especially if there's any binding.

I would also strongly advise you don't use the internal BEC on the 550, you have 4 standard size digital servos capable of pulling 2-3 amps each! You have already seen how stalling 3 of these servos causes the BEC to blow, you could easily replicate this amp draw in flight. Most people run a 10A+ regulator and seperate Li-po to power the reciever, when doing this you also need to remove the red wire from the ESC to the RX. Using a seperate Li-po to power the RX means if the ESC fails in the air you still have servo power to auto down.
60% of the time, it works every time!
