Just starting to fly a TREX 600 and I'm noticing a lot of chatter from the T/R servo. I disconnected the linkage to make sure it was not contributing and it was not. The higher I set the gain the more chatter I get, but even way down at 20% I have chatter. Here is my setup.

Futaba T7C 2.4 FASST GHz xmtr
R617FS rcvr
4x Futaba S9255 servos
GY401 w/S9254
Hydromax 4200 4.8v 4x sub-c battery pack.

I've used this combo in other helos just fine and never seen this kind of chatter.

I have all of the wires very tightly bound at the rcvr. Could I be getting interference from all the other servo wires unto the T/R system?

Mike.

Where is your gyro mounted? On the tail-boom mount block, or under the canopy, mounted just above the servos?

If it's under the canopy, just above the two servos, most likely you're coupling noise from the servos into the gyro. Either move the gyro away from there, or find and use the metal mounting plate between the gyro base and the gyro mount.

It's mounted up front right smack above all but one of the servos and only mm's above two of them. I'll try to isolate it more.

Thanks.

Futaba has a small metal plate that's supposed to be used between the base of the gyro and its mounting surface, if you experience interference from stuff mounted close-by. Other gyros seem to have those, too, and they come with the gyro.

One other thing to watch out for with the GY 401 mounted up front like that, is to make sure it's clear of the canopy when the canopy is installed. The 401 is a pretty tall gyro, and it may not clear the inside of the canopy. Of course this would present a problem with the motor running, not with the heli just sitting still with the engine off, as you indicate.

Well that was not hard to test. You were spot on. I put a piece of stainless steel between the mounting plate and the gyro and it virtually went away and I dialed the gain all the way up to 100% with no change.

I now see that all my other models have the gyro way in the back. Because this is in a scale body I do not feel like removing the body to move the gyro righ now, although if I get a good reason I just might in the futrure.

Thanks, Mike.

If it's now rock solid with the metal plate in place, there's no need to move it.

Happy flying.
