The O-ring I used is the JC-R1000 from Dreamworks.

http://dreamworksrc.com/catalog/jet...ring-p-269.html

- If this is the wrong O-Ring I'm willing to try another;-)

- I'll check the alignment again, but it looks very well. I looked at it during the entire start sequence and it never slipped, or seemed out of alignment.

- The first 9 hours it was not squealing. It started a few runs after the last JetCast service. By the way the turbine has now a runtime of approx 10 hours, and has been to JetCat for service twice, taking a total of 7 months away from me in 2012. Either I'm really unlucky or the quality is not good. I'm dreaming about the 50 hour service interval they state.

By the way, JetCat has still not answered my questions sent 24/3-2013 (this is more than 6 weeks ago). The customer service there is so slow that is difficult to recommend JetCat to anybody who's not just using the turbine for display.

Thanks Modtron.

Yeap, that's the correct part.

If you want to pm me a copy of your email to JetCat, I'll chase it up with the appropriate person.
Customer care has never been there good point, that's why I act as an outlet in the UK just for those reasons - offer the service and customers will come back again and again !

Yes. Good customer service can make a lot of customers happy, even if the products sometimes fails. Lack of customerservice is worse than lack of quality for me.

I sendt a new mail telling Jetcat what I thought of the customer service yesterday and finally got an answer from JetCat, and when they finally answer, the customer service is very good:

>I will send you on Monday a new starter coupling for the PHT3-3, hope >to solve your problem.
>After a talk with Roman he told me not to oil the Bendix.

- So I hope this new starter coupling solves the problem.
- And don't oil your bendix.

I'll make a report after installing and testing the new starter coupling.

Thank you for the help so far.

installing and testing the new starter coupling.
Thomas, I have just installed an over hauled starter, the bendix was sticking on the shaft
When you replace the starter, put the 4 bolts in but not too tight, Turn the bendix out so that it sits on the turbine shaft, I use a piece of soft wood to hold it in place
Check that the starter is lined up with the side frame and tighten the bolts
It is a simple method that works for me

Thomas, a few points. I've gone 70 hours once on the PHT3 without replacing the o-ring (or anything) and never had any noise or wear issues so it is possible. Conversely, I've had some o-rings only last a few hours. I think the root cause of this is poor alignment. If the alignment is truly correct the system works very well for a long time. If it's off even slightly you get the kind of performance you describe. I've changed a few o-rings myself and I find the starter realignment to be difficult. It always takes a lot of trial and error for me to get it perfect. It's really frustrating, btw, to think you have it perfect and then install the engine only to find out a little later that it's not. Not fun. The last one JC Germany put in has been trouble free for a few years now. I think the continuous cool option helps with a longer life too.

I did my best with the alignment when replacing the o-ring. Its not easy with the PTH3-3 because I can only see the alignment from the top, since the frames are massive. I was very tempted to drill some holes from the sides but have not done it.

I did the trix with extending the bendix before tightening the screws, to see the alignment from top. (The previous o-ring was hard and not rubbery anymore).

I have now received a new Bendix coupling from JetCat, but not installed it yet. I hope this completely fixes the problems, and gives me trouble free turbine handling the next 40 hours before scheduled service.

So my next big wish from JetCat is a Telemetric output from the ECU to Jeti duplex EX protocol so I can view all parameters live on my DS-16;-)

I have installed the new Bendix coupling I got from JetCat (all by myself) and now everything has been working as expected for a few flights.
