Currently running my heli with the above motor on 10S with a 12 tooth pinion

If I run a 12S setup with an 11tooth Pinion will I be able to keep the HS down at a normal level?

Cheers Dave

yup, i run that motor on 12 using an ice hv80. at first i was using 11T for 1900 rpm, and then had to go to 12T for 2050 rpm. if your using a jive you'll probably be able to get up to 2050 or even 2100 with an 11 tooth as they are a bit more efficient. you'll love it on 12s, it really brings the motors potential out.

I'm using Jive 80HV on 12S with a 500KV motor, had to bring the T curve down to 62 to get 1830 on normal and 66 to get 1900 on idle 1 and 2. If you are running 690 blades don't go over 1950 or you will have problems with the main blades screws, they will quickly bend...ask me how I know.

Thanks for the info. If I can get around 70% and 2200-2300 on the head it would be ok. I was thinking of getting a new set of packs and thought might aswell go 12S if it was nice and simple.
I will still be keeping it a 600 not an SE but even still I'm on my 3rd set of blade bolts..lol!

oh, my bad, disreguard my advice, i thought it was -500 in the title, not 560. Sorry.

Caleb is correct.

Define "normal" head speed...

The -560 on 12s and an 11t pinion will make your L600 the fastest Logo in Australia. Quite an impressive setup if you're a fan of power. But trying to throttle it down to far without a good ESC like a Jive might be difficult.

It has a jive120HV at the moment.

Normal= around the 2200-2250 mark!

yup, agreed, if you want normal (1900-2200) headspeeds you'll be running the jive at quite a partial load. The jive is good at that, but its certainly not optimal and you can run into problems. At some point, its just so mechanically inefficient the speed controller will have a problem.

I'm running a high head speed yes, but certainly not with 690's. With 600's I'll stop at 2600 but like to keep it around 2500. I just strapped on some 620's and keep them at about 2400.

What throttle % are you running to get 2400-2500?

72% for IU-1 and 78% for IU-2. I had a buddy use an optical tach at a much higher RPM and throttle % but I'm going by sound and feel after throttling down to say that I'm just over 2400 at 78%.

If I get a chance to get out and fly this summer, I'll throw my EagleTree on there with the rpm sensor so I can have some solid charts to present.

Maybe at 70% throttle I Might be able to get around 2300..

Might have to get a Pack and give it a go!

I'd say go for it! I've had more fun flying my crack L600 over the years than any other heli.

Ok so I got to test the HKIII4035-560 on 12S today and I reckon its going to be a winning combo!!

On the 10S setup I am running a 12 tooth pinion/106 main and get the following HS.

Normal-1950@50%
ST1-2250@82%
ST2-2300@86%

Changed to an 11 tooth pinion and borrowed some turnigy 2650mah30-40C packs.
Spooled it up at zero pitch to just get headspeed readings, didn't load at all.

Normal-2030@50%
ST1-2240@70%
ST2-2380@75%

Will be getting some TP65C 3800 sticks in the near future, recently bought a small Generator for charging at the field to try and cut down on the amount of packs needed for half a dozen flights in the morning.
