What is up with people on craigslist. They list stuff for sale and when I email them nobody ever replies.

I buy quite a bit off craigslist but if they don't bother to list a phone number I move on.

I too have experianced many boguss adds on there. I have all but given up on that site. Too many scams. Just trying to get your e-mail address to sell it or scam you or something.

I do sell on there and only give my phone number not my e-mail cause they try to get your e-mail that way too for some reason.

I absolutely love Craigslist. 100 times better then eBay. You get to see the product before you buy it. I have never had a problem. One thing I can tell you from experience selling and buying is you have to be quick most of the time. I will shoot emails for things that have been listed for more then a week and if I don't get a reply oh well. Probably gone already. Same when I sell stuff. Usually goes in a day or two and I don't reply to mails after that.

I have scooter parts only for sale.

I get stupid scam message like this.

Where can i pick up the bike.
Does it run.
Whats wrong with the bike.
Or still avaible, only moments after listing the add.
They might just say, Can you ship the bike.
Or something else stupid.

They will send stupid messages, just to get you to reply back, through your real email address. Because craigs list hides,it and sends you a notifation.(check the box hide, or be anoymous) But if you reply back to them, wham they got your e-mail address, so they can steal your email, address to latter spam, or look up your e-mail address, on onther forums, to find any other personal information, like your address, or name, or anything else they can digup.

Now when I list something I check the box so craigs list want send a message.
And now I just provide a phone no. So the scamers never call now anyways. They want, they just want your e-mail.

Phone number is much safer.

I personally don't like to call people so I like the idea of using email but it kind of sound like that might not be the best way of doing it. I did sell a car on craigslist and bought a lawn mower but it seems like lately I can't get any replies back from people. I haven't been listing my phone number either because I worried I would get a bunch of calls while at work or something. I guess maybe I should start using my phone number and calling people. I have noticed people spell out the number for some reason.

Why don't people remove the add after it sells?!! It's not that hard. I noticed the lawn mower I bought he never did remove it.

I sold a lot of stuff last year on Craigslist.
I always listed my phone number. I got a really fast response on most of the items.
And most of the e-mails I received were scammers and I just deleted them.
I figured if I got a phone call that buyer was more serious in buying than the person e-mailing me. Most of the time by the time I answered the e-mail and got another one back from them the item was sold.

So I don't think e-mails are the way to go at all on Craigslist.
List your phone number and sell it faster.

Thanks, TheWoodCrafter

All the time...really stresses out a seller like myself...heck even throwing them out in the garbage is easier if they're broken or outdated and sitting around just taking up space...

One of things that irks me is that they don't follow through or back out at the last min saying they can't make it.

Another thing I would like to add is that you need to be on your toes when meeting someone with cash and also normally if I have something for sale I normally meet in a mutual spot if I can.
