I am thinking of putting a huey fuselage on my trex 450, and was wondering what people have used in the past for the head.

Does anyone make a scale head for these with the stabilizer bar on it?

i am assuming that I might need a flybarless setup, since the stabilizer bar isn't really a flybar. Or could you just put some sort of weights on instead of the flbar paddles? They would still be below the blades instead of above them, but they would look more sclae than the paddles.

Thanks, jeff

hi Jeff,

Take a look at http://www.heliartist.com they have the 100% scale functional Huey rotohead.

If not find, or if they do not have to sell you can make a simple mod to imitate

The Align 450 Flybarless head is better to make a semi scale head, and included in the box is the Align 3G to.

this is the video of my Huey:

very cool! what fuselage did you use? How did you get the tail rotor to work on the other side?
are you running a 3s battery still?

I already have the 3g electronics, and an rjx fybarless head, so it would be easy for me to set this up.

thanks, jeff

Hi Jeff,

the fuselage is the heliArtist one.

I running on 3S battery, up to 7 minutes of flight, and what a smooth flight, you will love this heli.

To flip the tail you will need to modify the tail, I do not recommend, to much work and later I perceived a few Hueys have the tail rotor in the right side to.

Here's one way to go left side tail...

http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show...63&postcount=24

And a bit of video of the modd'ed fuselage (RC Aerodyne version)...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xfF6xqGzjHg

I'm eventually going to go FBL on it, but the airframe is extremely low-rent on the cyclic servos, and with 1650 headspeed with 50gr blades...not too sure how that would work. BeastX has done some amazing things for me though in the past. Or I'll just run it with no electronic stab as it does have super heavy 50gr blades...need a FBL head with better geometry and possibly better resolution servos first to try that out. I dont think the flybar is doing a whole lot right now anyway, judging by the amount of cyclic I have to use to get this thing to move, lol.

I'd avoid the heliartist head mentioned...you may have issue actually getting some blades to fit your heli with a raised tail with that. Unless you can find some ~300mm blades or so. Much wider grip spacing than stock T450.

Some info on that animal:
