I have been flying my TRex 500 with the gyro (ds-760) mounted on the boom block for the last few years.

That's all good, except I have to disturb it in order to replace the tail belt, which is a hassle.

So I was thinking about moving it inside the heli after my next crash, which turns out to be today. :`-{ I have seen pics where people have put the gyro down on the bottom frame, but not very often.

Do people think there is a lot more vibration down there or something else bad?

Thanks,
n8

KDE Direct Rx Tray. Way better than the stock plastic one.

Gyro on top, Rx Below.

I've seen people mount them on the bottom of the Rx tray, including the KDE Rx tray.

But I am talking about down inside the frame, sitting on top of the bottom frame.

What do folks think about that?
e.g. has anybody had vibration issues there?

Thanks,
n8

On the very bottom put your rx there and right above that put your Gyro on the tray and mount esc on the side. Thats how I do mine anyways and works out great.

In the pic is the Gyro for 3G unit and Rx on bottom

What is the advantage of having the Gyro on the Rx tray and the Rx on the bottom frame? (as opposed to the other way around)

I talked to a guy at my LHS today, and he said some people think "the higher the better" when it comes to the gyro. I didn't ask him why. Has anybody else ever heard that?

Thanks,
n8

Because you get too much vibration above the belt. I've know several to doing this and the twitching of the tail is gone. For an example the Heli shown above had the Gyro on top and couldn't get rid of the twitching. Moved everything down and problem fixed. I'm not saying this is for everyone but a friend also a a quark Gyro and until he moved his he had problems also.

Cool, so in fact, there is good reason to move it down under the tail belt.

So back to the original question... is it OK to move it inside the frame, sitting on top of the bottom frame piece? (not talking about the Rx tray for the moment)

Thanks,
n8
