(MSNBC) Cars lining the street. A house full of young people. A keg and drinking games inside. Police thought they had an underage boozing party on their hands.

But though they made dozens of teens take breath tests, none tested positive for alcohol. That’s because the keg contained root beer.

The party was held by a high school student who wanted to show that teens don’t always drink alcohol at their parties. It has gained fame on YouTube.com.

Dustin Zebro, 18, said he staged the party after friends at D.C. Everest High School got suspended from sports because of pictures showing them drinking from red cups.

The root-beer kegger was “to kind of make fun of the school,” he said. “They assumed there was beer in the cups. We just wanted to have some root beer in red cups and just make it look like a party, but there actually wasn’t any alcohol.”

Nearly 90 breath tests were done, and officers even searched locked rooms for hiding teens.

“It was a tremendous waste of time and manpower, but we still had a job to do, and our officers did it,” Joling said. “If one kid had come there, even hadn’t drank there, but had come there and had been drinking and had left and crashed and burned, then what would the sentiment be? Why didn’t the police check everybody out?”

I am glad the police went and checked it out. 99% of the time it would have been beer and not root beer.

Pretty Cool !
I'm sure the Police had a good Laugh, -- and felt good -- still talking about it at the squad room.

I'm sure the Kid's had a Hilarious Experience and felt good - still talking . Best Ever Experience

The parent's are Beaming Proud of their Kid's / tightened the bond they have with them and installed a bit of trust.

The neighbor that called it in just swallowed a pickled egg " can you say would you like lemon with that ??"

Neighbor that called it in still doesn't believe it --

Their are still good parent's with the talent's to raise good kid's - that don't need the crutches the others do.

See : Example :

Kronenwetter Police Chief Daniel Joling said an officer was dispatched to the home March 1 on a complaint of cars blocking the road.
For some reason this part was left out of the original posted story, the police just didn't stop by. They were there for a reason. Maybe if the kids would have learned how to park properly none of this would have happened.

Theyre just kids, they are learning. How long do ya think they had their license's for at this time?what maybe 2 or 3 years max?
It was a tremendous waste of time and manpower, but we still had a job to do, and our officers did it,
Meanwhile across town a grandmother gets purse snatched,a young lady gets sexually assaulted, and a liquor store gets robbed.

They had it long enough to know that you do not park in the street blocking the road.

Blame the neighbor that called then, the police receive a call they have to go through with the call.

Obviously not.

Lets face it,the cops were just being douches as they usually are.Wasting time screwing around flexing their muscles around little kids instead of fighting real crime. Period, end of story.

As the parent of 2 kids (1 out of collage 1 a Jr in collage). I am HAPPY the police checked em all. Ive told my son many times that teenage drivers SHOULD be a target for police. Within limits (the hard part here) I have no problem with the police violating my kids rights if they have good reason to think something is up. I say PULL EM over and ask.....
The term Young and Dumb didnt come outta thin air. They should assume they are going to be pulled over at any time, IMO

More assumptions about people you know nothing about. But I am glad you were there to see the officers being douches and flexing their muscles.

i have several friends in law enforcement and they are the first to say that cops are douches and one particular friend that is a sheriff says he is leaving law enforcement because it is so bad.He was an MP in the AirForce,a city cop in Tampa and now a Sheriff.

They are resigning and getting fired around here for abuse and excessive force weekly.

Yes I see but would comment that unless one of your Police friends was involved in this case, with respect, your post has no bearing on the case at hand. What EVERY cop is like that? smacks of painting all folks with the same brush........

just stating a view from the "inside" that law enforcement is getting worse (this person has been in law enforcement since the early 90's.Are you really arguing over petty stuff like this? damn!

and beside cops are painting all teens with the same brush.

One ex cop/ex friend of mine was busted stealing weapons and drugs and selling them on the street here locally. He actually flew rc helis and planes with me at the local flying field.

Yea they are all young and dumb. Keeping our eyes on em is a GOOD THING. Like I said I was always told to comply with a cop. If he is in the wrong, you can object, calmly, clearly and respectfully but deal with the issues later, in court. At the point of contact the only good course is compliance. I would guess the idea of compliance is both foreign and distasteful for you guys but it is proven to be the best way to deal with these types abuse.

They may go most of the time, but not all fo the time. I knew a woman that was assaulted by a young male in the parking lot of a bar. I was inside. She came in with her nose bleeding telling me he punched her. I went out and didn't see him. I called 911. Ten minutes after the call she pointed him out and said he was still there. I called 911 again. They still didn't come. I took her to the local precinct. They took some pictures of her nose. It was not broken, but a little bit bloody. She refused medical treatment. I heard later they caught the guy, but if they had come the first time they were called or even the second time, they would have caught him that night and not a week later.

Man, I miss the eighties.

Ok Ill be happy to comment on the 4 clips above.
1. I in no way condone the actions of the police in this clip, most or all of them witnessed it and its clearly over the line. BUT
I could not say that the "victim" was acting calmly, respectfully or was in compliance. Its too much to say he got what was coming to him but he was acting the punk and thats clear to see.
2. Notice she lead a car chase EIGHT MILES. Most departments have a gun draw protocol for a FELINY eluding arrest. But lets set that aside because the cop clearly over reacted and IMO put both of there lives at risk (putting her down in a traffic lane). However, the system did exact recourse. the cop got fired she got six figures. Seems like the system stepped in and took appropriate action (excepting the six figuare settlement)
3. A good example of in appropriate MALE and Female behavior. An excellent example of very poor decision making and actions of a police officer. BUT Not an example of police abuse of power. It wa even said that she was a willing participant.....
4. Not even in this country.

Im sure much better examples could be found. The examples given, dont really help your case IMO. And Will say that cops are human, just like us. They will abuse power, they will cross the line. Its what is done about it that matters. In 2 of the 3 examples (tossing the last) the system responded appropriately and Id guess it did so in the first example as well although its not detailed in the clip.
The clips prove my point more than yours.
Thank You
