Dear friends
We've been all reading reports and specifications about motors.
But sometimes real life differs from theory.
So I 'll go straight to the facts.

I am rebuilding my TREX-500 and I want to change the Motor & ESC.

Tell me what motor to use for a 6S Lipo .
Regarding ESC now,I was thinking of using the new CC Ice 100A 8S ESC
because of the price.

Regarding motor i was thinking of
1.Pyro 600-12
2.Scorpion 3026-1400
3.Scorpion 3026-1210
4.KDE1708H-N42 (although is hard to find)
5.MiniPyro 400-14

Give me a clue to help me.

Wow, you want to time travel with it?

this website has power calculator for helis on it that you can use. http://dhrc.rchomepage.com/calc.htm

I really don't see the need for a 100Amp ESC on a smaller bird like a 500, 50amps should be max needed at 22.2volts.

just my opinion...

Is the 500mx that much better then the 500m? I have had my 500m for a while probably over 100+ flights but I think the bearings are going out. How can I tell for sure? It makes a whinning noise once in a while and I had the main gear out the other day and ran just the motor up and the motor have a fair amout of high frequency vibration through the whole frame but I wasnt sure if it was normal as I have never done this before and also when I touch the can as it spins I can tell it is slightly out of round and vibrates as it turns so I am thinking it is the bearings also the motor has 1-2mm up and down play but it has had this forever. Do I have to take it out of the heli to tell for sure?

One more thing if the motor bearings where starting to go out how would it affect the heli in flight tail kicks, head bobbing, shaking etc or no difference at all?

and the blonde said "RECTUM, Hell damn near killed em!!"

Has anyone test them?

I see even the oldest 500L motor have maximum of 60A I think so 50A might be a bit low.. 75A is just right. 100A is on the safest side... And me... I'm kinda crazy. I found a HV110 for sale cheap so I got it for my T-rex 500...

I flew a 1400kv. It was nice but was harsh on the packs. A buddy of mine flies a 1600kv. I think the 1600kv is better on the packs. But it all depends on the setup.

My scorpion 1600kv and ice lite75 have worked flawless for me and I can still use stock pinions.

I have the same setup except my CC is not a Lite version. I love them and they have been the most bullet proof and consistent electric power system I'v ever had.

So you think that if I finally
stick with the Scorpion 1400Kv motor I would be fine?
Because its economical

I would pick a MX motor over Scorpion

If you have stock M motor then I would pick Scorpion over that.

And stick with the ice 75 esc

I used stock align speed control and scorpion 1600kv motor and it seemed to be the best setup . I tried others and they got less flight times and more heat . I didn't notice a less power problem or failures . You really have to try different setups to see what you like.

I stole it ,flew it and gave it back ;)

Thank you Jeff
I came across the Xera 4020-2Y
Which seems that it would make the heli real rocket.
But the price made my head a rocket also

The Xera 4020 is intended for 550 sized machines. As other have siad the Align 500MX motor is a pretty good one. The best motor I had in my T-Rex 500 was the Castle Vertigo 1800kv with a 13T pinion on 6s. They are not made anymore but you may be able to find someone who has one.

Got a 500M in mine with a CC Ice 75.
All power and no probs. Sport flying and light 3D. It's over a year old and over 100 flights.

My crashes are cooler than your flying! ;^)
