I had installed different blades they were called 3d blades they seemed to be heavier the the ms blades I usually fly. I was doing a flip and had a tail boom strike. I'm wondering what blades guys are flying and if there are stiffer dampners that might keep a boom strike from happening. I also had the elevator control arms at full travel. The helicopter was pitchy in flight. I was wondering where most set their elevator mine has mulitable holes and is set to outside holes. I wonder if this could have been the cause of the boom strike? Could anyone help.

What dampeners are you running in your head now? Are they the stock blue/black ones or did you put the stiffer red ones in? If they're the stiff ones, how old are they? You should be fine running the outside holes on those control arms.

Yup, spank it with blue dampeners and you can smack just about any blades.

Hello Craig
I was at the field to day with a set of these.

They will fit sly's 50 they look the same as my X-50 but are not. I tried them on an old 30 feathering shaft and they fit.
But if you are ordering them ,better get the right ones.

I might make it to the shindig this weekend. If so,we can try the black and red ones that I have.

I've beat on my Titan pretty good with blue dampers and never had any problems. I mean flips should not be an issue at all. Either those dampers were totally trashed and dry rotted or something else is going on.

7 degrees of cyclic is plenty, how much do you have?

Biggest cause of tail boom strikes is not a loose head or dampeners, given that it will make it easier to happen, in turn IS BOGGING DOWN THE HEAD WITH TOO MUCH LOAD ON THE BLADE, MAKING THE BLADE LAG AND EASILY REACHING THE BOOM.

Seen it 100 times when someone just goes to town banging the sticks.
