I have a 30.5cc RC-Aftermarket Zenoah gas engine that I have nearly $700 invested in, but I cannot seem to sell it in the classifieds for a fair price. Sure, I get offers of $150 or $200 for it from time to time, but we all know those people are just trying to take advantage of me since this is clearly not a fair price.

I am unable to use this engine in my own personal helicopter because it produces too much vibration. The 2 years I spent waiting for this engine and the 1 year that I struggled to get it to stop vibrating have brought me nothing but sadness and grief. I am considering donating it to Mike Zman to thank him for all of the help he has given me, but before I do so, I want to know if there is anyone else who is more deserving.

While I know that "needy" and "RC helicopters" do not usually go in the same sentence, but I am wondering if there is someone out there who is really down on their luck who is for some reason unable to afford to fly. Maybe an old guy who is disabled and is unable to work, but who has a passion for RC helicopters (and who doesn't mind a motor which is very temperamental)? Let me know if you know of anyone. If so, I would like to call them on the phone and get to know them.

Life is too short for grudges and hatred. While I wish I could sell this motor for enough money to fund a Toxic 23cc motor, I also realize that given enough time I can earn more money to buy a new motor which will work in my helicopter. I have cared for enough people in the hospitals with cancer, cardiovascular disease, amputations, etc that I realize not everyone is healthy enough to work, and not everyone has much time left on this planet. I have been given much in life, and if donating a new modified Zenoah to someone needy would bring them some joy (and to bring a happy ending to an otherwise unhappy chapter in my life), then I would like to do this.

If nobody wants to buy this motor from me for a fair price, and if nobody knows of anyone who is truly needy, then I will donate this motor to Mike Zman. Mike is one of the nicest and most generous guys I have ever met. While others have done nothing but criticize me and ridicule me, Mike has been supportive and helpful from day one. He is truly a great guy. But I thought I would at least ask if anyone is aware of someone who is truly needy. Again, I would prefer to find a really old guy who likes to tinker and who doesn't have a lot of money. Are you aware of anyone like this?

I know such a person, but I have to ask how will you determine the need of the person? How comfortable do you think the conversation will be when you try to get to know your "really down on their luck " new friend.

I also don't wish to start an altercation but I've read your post concerning this engine and it seems that much negative information has been posted. I can't imagine why anyone would want to take a chance for any significant money.

I am feeling a little down on my luck.... would you donate it to me :-)

I cannot get an engine to run for the life of me. I keep burning them up. Since this one is already tuned by Mike, I should have better luck huh?

there is not warranty or will I rebuild it
Thank you Wally for your reply, but the person I am looking to give this motor to would have a passion for this kind of thing, and so they would be able to rebuilt it themselves when the time comes for this. I know there are people who enjoy building and rebuilding motors by themselves.
I am feeling a little down on my luck.... would you donate it to me :-)
You've got a job, right James? Electrician? So you're doing OK, right? I'm trying to find someone who is unable to work. Not because of a bad economy, but because they physically cannot earn enough money to afford to fly. Like an old guy with a passion for RC helicopters.
I know such a person, but I have to ask how will you determine the need of the person? How comfortable do you think the conversation will be when you try to get to know your "really down on their luck " new friend.
Hi Iona. When it comes to charitable donations, there are always people who will try and take advantage of you. We see this all of the time with "save the children" scams and such. I have been involved with such scams before. But just because there are bad people out there, we should still make an effort to help others whenever we are able.

Can you please tell me about this friend of yours? Feel free to PM me if you like. Thank you for your help.

justen engine
Hi justen you said you would like a 23 rc modified .I just got my 27 rc 4 bolt engine back from toxic al he uses a lighter piston and I think theres a big difference . I had it stock and had a problem and toxic Al fixed and stage 1 mod . So its apples to apples I do not know how much difference between the 23 and the 27 I would talk to Al he can tell you but I am very impressed with his work on my 27 its real smooth they say the 4 bolt engine is much better than the 2 bolt I don't know if the 23 is 2 or 4 bolt that would be important to me . Maybe Al could put a smaller head on yours or maybe theres to much bad taste I can under stand that.. I read the night mare post and thats frustrating and more Its nun of my business and I hate to see a fellow heli man not enjoying the mini vacation that I receive from our hobby just my 2 c I do hope your next engine is a joy and I think your offer is a very generous one.

Thank you for the response. I'm not looking for a high torque monster. I have my 700 electric for that. I'm simply looking for a motor which doesn't vibrate so hard that bolts fall off the helicopter. I am happy to sacrifice power for smoothness so long as I will be able to fly the helicopter every once in awhile without anything breaking. So I will choose a Toxic 23cc as soon as I have saved up another $500.

As for the motor I am trying to give away, I know there are people out there with a lot of time on their hands who love to fiddle and tweak. I visited an old guy's house once who would build all of his own airplanes out of balsa wood by hand. He had a band saw and this is what he did for fun in his retirement. He bought old plans from the AMA magazine and would build these cool WWII airplanes. He said he had never bought a kit before. He was a cool old guy.

I would love to find an old guy like this who is into helicopters. Maybe some old guy who has an old 1005 and who likes to tweak and fiddle. I know the Wally motor vibrates hard, but maybe some old retired guy could build a rubber mount or something to make it work? At the very least, maybe he could have some fun with it and it would give him something to do.

you got more patience than I
I new some guys that built balsa airplanes A lot of talent out there and those guys are getting older and older I built kit airplanes the kids today want to open the box if thats not to complicated and go fly it a shame theres no one to carry on some of the grate hobby traditions. By us in N J theres not much open space so helis fill the bill and gas makes it affordable I don't feel guilty spending 1 $ for gas on sunday nitro guys say 4$ per 10 minute flight. Just to let you know look for 4 bolt and my 27 R C witch is 26 cc from toxic is smooth

Well Then

How in the Haiti's did I get evolved ???

Here's a pretty good Ole Salt recommendation:

!st get off the back door Apathy kick chasing a vendor looking for another excuse - as the list of excuses is never ending and then some ----you are enjoying being like a Martyr. Called responsibility

Accept that Justin maybe need's additional skill set's, more study, or the cognitive ability to listen & apply - and accept good advice from the numerous with out zigging and zagging.

Mechanical Helicopter's - are not like a I-POD touch you just dial up the application & can't { shake one out of the box } so to speak.

2nd Develop the mechanical skill set's necessary & be patient.

Place it in storage until you grow into it and have a bit more experience. Then pull it back out after a bit.

With that being said - A lot of us saw the thing run on your video when you sent it to a independent evaluation and fly I believe on a different platform. It was a absolute animal with NO issues.

The vibe problem must be in your bird or some thing you over looked. Fan ? FlyBar, Paddle alignment, Bent spindle, Hogged up thrust bearing or in may be in backwards ??

Your word's ::

I have never met you - I'm not that old - "maybe to you" - I still have plenty of rare kit's - I have lot's of foe's - and not that cool.

You are welcome in the shop although you never visited - you start on the broom with the rest of them. I could care less - jump in the grease.

I'm not retired - but I'm faking it really good -

Common Bud / figure that ole witch out - the rest of us do it

But what ever / please leave me out -

Thanks for the suggestion, but Raja owns a three story house and drives a Mercedes. I'm not sure what he does for a living, but I'm pretty sure he's got plenty of money to buy whatever he wants.

I'm looking for someone for whom the receipt of a $500 engine would make a big difference to their ability to enjoy the hobby.

I've worked with elderly patients before who have to choose between buying food and buying their diabetes medicines. These people are too old to get a job, yet they have nothing better to do with their time than to watch TV.

I know there has got to be some old guy out there who LOVES gasoline helicopters, but who lives on a fixed income and saving up an additional $500 to buy a modified Zenoah engine would require either not eating, or not buying his medications.

Help me to find this guy. Let me give him an engine for free.
