Wanted to give some info to the group on my first impressions of the Beast X.

Configuration:

- Align 700E with Align Blades, Align servos
- Futaba 8 channel RX running SBUS

I have been running the 3G on this heli since it was new and always had some bounce in the elevator when doing fast rolls. Also I never was able to eliminate the tail kick which happens from time to time on all my 3G units.

I swapped out the 3G for the Beast X and so far I'm very impressed. I didn't have to fiddle with any of the gain settings or my tail gyro gains on the TX. The head feels and behaves much more locked in. High speed forward flight piros are perfectly locked in as well. Everything about it so far is better than the 3G.

I changed the mode from the default to PRO before the first flight so the flip and roll rate are quite good, but never tested the default.

Doing the setup was a bit confusing the first time. Mostly due to the too damn small manual and print. All the settings were very simple to perform and it just took a few minutes to get everything right.

Only one thing that really tripped me up was that there was no mention in the manual to the TX AFR setting having to be set to straight line with no swash mixing. The 3G used the TX mixing but the Beast X does not. I pulled a bit of hair out trying to figure this one out. They need to add a BIG note in the manual about this one.

I bought the combo with the software USB adapter. What a waste of $20 bucks. They should have said if you are a scale flier with multiblade head buy the adapter otherwise save your money since so settings are available via it for anything else. Maybe in the future?

Bummer for me is that I have 6 other heli's with 3Gs.....I guess I will be converting them slowly one at a time.

You will need the USB adapter to make firmware updates. So keep it around.

Yea, I'm aware of that but I figured more would be configurable via software.

I just converted my T-rex 500ESP to FBL using the Align FBL Head and BeastX.

Installation and setup was easy and straightforward. I love the setup of a FBL heli... so easier than the FB.

First flight was very very nice. No weird tendencies. Heli feels as connected as when it was FB, but of course, with more speed, power and stability. So far, I'm very impressed.

Nice little piece of equipment.

IMO, that's the beauty of the Beast...haha, get it..

No computer required to have the system flying. The only thing you need the USB adapter is for firmware updates

The USB adapter is not just for scale guys. With it, you can activate and adjust the PreComp function. For hard 3D it makes a very welcome difference in how the tail reacts to hard collective maneuvers and eliminates the small kick. The confusing part is they refer to it as "RevoMixing" which is not what it really is. It's the same thing as PreComp in VBar.
