Sorry if this has been posted before but I searched and could not find anything with the correct information.

I'm running 12S on a 700E with 3G flybar system.

I bought 2 of these BEC's.

First question: Can this be used from it's own power source and not from the main battery packs.
Second: 2S, 3S or 4S for this power source?
Third: If you use own power source how do you power it on of via separate switch?

Sorry instructions provided is very limited with the BEC?

I honestly don't like running my system of the main packs in case something goes wrong with main packs then you loose control of your system also???

Any good advice or tips would be greatly appreciated.

1. Yes
2. 2S, less voltage more amps. it can put out.
3. No switch, is my preference.

Errr yes while trying to connect it to my castle link that's still not working on Windows 7 I shorted it with a 2S pack ... really crap!

No protection for that since it is now dead and no longer working!

not understanding here BEC stands for Battery Elimination Circuit why add a BEC AND a battery its purpose is to eliminate a battery...LOL

for your 700 you are running 2 6s batts in series?

how many times have you had an issue with a flight pack?what are the chances 2 will go at the same time?I am not trying to be funny or a smart a$$ just being practical

I went through a similar dilemma to yours a couple months back. For once, I actually made a good decision. I splurged and bought a Western Robotics Hercules Super Bec.

There are a LOT of negative reports on the Castle Pro when it comes to 12S set ups and I wanted to keep my wiring nice and clean. I wanted to run the BEC right at the junction of the 2 6S Lipos--BEC taking 12S and reducing voltage to 6v to ALL my servos. The WR Hercules takes up to 14S--let me say that again, the WR ACTUALLY takes up to 14S.....no common concerns as there are with the Castle Pro: Hopes and Prayers when you power the Castle up for the first time.

I saw a lot of guys would run the Castle Pro BEC off of 1 of the 2 6S lipos to reduce the load on it. I didn't like this because one battery in the set would always be working harder than the other. This didn't seem sound to me as 1 pack's voltage would also be reduced quicker than the other during the flight with an unbalanced 12 cells providing power to your ESC. And there is the obvous, if the Castle Pro BEC is rated for 12S, hobbyists should not have to run 6S with it just for piece of mind!

I also don't like computer programming. Sure, you can setlle for the factory default of the Castle Pro 5.25v. If not, you have to hook up and program. The WR Hercules has simple switches on it to set the voltage to many different choices.

Seriously, consider scrapping the Castle Pro idea and go with a WR Bec for your 12S setup. That is just too much heli, power, and money relying on a $40 piece of junk from Castle.

Thx Guys,

I converted back to what I trust I've been using Jetimodel's 10Amp BEC's on my other 600 size heli's and decided since Align's BEC is also a 10Amp that this will be more than enough.

Straight and simple jumper to decide which volts you need, LED's to indicate power status of your battery which I like!

The other thing that bothers me is to try and route the 2 wires from the Castle BEC pro all the way to one of the battery packs on the 700E. Just more complications since I have a serial connector for the 2 x 6S packs.

I like simplicity and the less wires that needs to be routed the better for me.
