Hey all, I'm in the process of finishing up an EXI 500 build. I know everyone has mixed reviews on the clones but I needed a beater to get my practice in. Everything has gone well so far but in the middle of spooling up last night my motor just stopped working. I've spooled it up on 2 other tries with no issues. I'm using an exceed volcano 60a opto esc with a helium 500 motor. When it stopped working I had just reversed my rudder settings on my dx6i. Doubt that had anything to do with it. When I plug in the battery to the esc now there are no beeps to indicate it's initializing. Any thoughts? Parts list below

3 x ds510 cyclic
1 x Hyperion Gs20x-gcd tail servo
Volcano 60a opto esc
3a/5a BEC
Gy401
Helium 500 motor
Ar6200 receiver
6s 3300mah blue lipo

Sometimes when the ESC does not initiate it's due to the throttle stick not all the way down or idle up is on.

If motor cut during flight see if you have current going to the ESC and then out to your receiver.

Is the light in the receiver turning on? Is their current coming out of the BEC? and out of the ESC?

the light is lighting up on the reciever via the separate bec and the servos have power. I don't have a meter to measure if power is coming out of the ESC though. Guess i need to pick one up unless there is another way to test if power if coming out of the ESC?

One thing to check is that you didn't accidentally reverse your throttle instead of your rudder. I know because I did this before and couldn't figure it out. If your esc will not initialize try putting your throttle all the way up and see if it initializes there. If so disconnect the battery and reverse your throttle channel. Do this with the blades off for obvious reasons.

just found the problem. I checked everything you said swoop and everything looked good as far as the reverse settings. I was in the process of disconnecting the motor and out came one of my bullet connectors to the motor. Looks like a bad solder job on my part. that would have really sucked if that happened in a hover. Will be triple checking my solder points going forward.

thanks

Yep that will kill a motor every time! Glad you got it figured out.
