I believe MrMel has flown this ESC while testing the vbar gov extensively. I'm almost positive he has posted videos of it in flight as well.

Correct, i fly 3 hobbywing now, the built in governor is not good but with an external like the vbar it beats the Jive...

Few points;
It does not have current protection, meaning if you screw up motor timing setting or a bad solder on the motor cable it can damage the ESC, but otherwise its great.

I had ordered one of these a couple weeks ago after I crashed and broke my YGE 90HV (turns out the YGE wasn't broke after all).
Well, today the HobbyWing ESC was delivered and I took a couple pics to show build and size comparisons - WOW this thing is big.

^^^Comparing size to YGE 90HV

^^^Comparing size to Kontronics 80HV

^^^The plastic mounting plate screws through PCB into the aluminum heatsink

^^^Three big Rubycon 50v 470uf capacitors mounted up against the PCB and heatsink. They are also glued to the pcb with white silicon and held together with clear heat-shrink.

^^^Shown with the plastic mounting cover removed. It appears to use a separate PCB (yellow) for the processor; which is mounted to the surface of the main PCB (green).

Mr.Mel

I see HobbyWing has released 80HV and 100HV under their own name, not the Turnigy K-force. Have you had the chance to use one of these yet?

Can you cut the Hobbywing in half?

To hover is divine, the alternative is rather PLANE.

Mr.Mel,

So while they say they are a new version they really are of an older series? So only HVs are 70 and 120 that are ok from Hobbywing for vBar governor?

Those you linked to are NOT Platinum series, they are Pentium.

Do note, that they might have fixed them, I do not know, I only know from other users that Pentium had issues and Platinum has been way better.

So if you want to try, I would say its a good odds that the software in them are the same, meaning it will work with VBar governor.

But I cannot comment on their quality other than the statement above.
