Hi,

I'm thinking of re-building my Nitro,(have not flown this for awhile due to work and moving house)

since I'm tearing it down to re-build.. besides changing the spindle and the M4 pin.. what else do you think I should upgrade..

This is one of those earlier kit that still has the 'C' clip on the spindle and the M3 pin on the main shaft..

so far this is the parts I think I need to change to the smooth spindle and the M4 pin for the main shaft..

Please help me go through it to see if I miss out anything
1.. AV000130 semi-rigid dampener set.
2.. AV900218 constant gear hub for M4 pin.
3.. AV900223 main shaft for M4 pin
4.. AV900240 smooth spindle
5.. AV000900 Isoflex grease.since I'm at it.. might as well go thru the sprag bearing to re-grease..

cheers

Nope.. that's why I thought I'll change it as well..

I did put it in my buying list.. anything at the blade grip that need to change besides the spindle.. and now with the smooth spindle, I don't have to put the rubber thingy in the Hub right.??

Re-Build
Looks like you got all you'll need for re-build of the head.
How is your torque tube? If its good then ok, but there is the new one you can get and have has a spare part.

I'm still running the old slimmer TT.. so far No issue.. Did consider this.. but since it's working, I'm leaving it..

thanks Charles..

I haven't tried the new dampners without the tube but I did try the old style without the tube and the tube made a difference. I highly recommend the new dampner setup. It is a lot more durable and a lot tighter. One of my auroras had the old torque tube on it and it just sheared off on me a few weeks ago.

it's a lot more difficult to tear down than building
I started my tear down today.. Man am I in for a surprise..

The engine, pipe and fuel tank came out flawlessly..

Then..

First the grub screw that's holding the 3mm pin for the main shaft refuse to budge.. almost gave up.. but manage at the end.. I have to use a lot more strength to twist it than I though needed..

Then the 3mm pin.. had to use a 2mm alan key driver to tap it out.. then I realise I've use too much force on it when I first build it.. There's a slight bend on it..

Finally, the main shaft.. even this got stuck.. had to use my 6mm starter shaft to tap it out as well..

Is this all normal.. I'm a bit worry.. I'm not sure if I've mess things up..

all this took me 3 hrs to get this few parts out..

I hope the rest of the tearing down will not need this much force..

My worry on dismantling the head..

After dismantling the whole heli.. then I realise I've been having the stronger torque tube.. It's the same as the new TT that came with my "E"..

well one less thing to change..

so it seems only the smooth spindle and the new main shaft..
