The service is awful.

I ordered a subscription in November and it took them 4 months to get the subscription started. And when I do get a subscription, its old. Nothing like staring at the front cover of the latest subscription on the web and at the local hobby shop for three weeks before you get it????

I'm so frustrated, if you can't tell. I send them emails (5), but...... I've only got one response. You have to call, and its always the same thing..... "...... in the mail."

Rant, rant, rant....

RC Heli Mag...... are you out there? You've got my money.

All magazines try to get rid of extra back issues this way. When you do get in touch with someone, just ask them to extend your subscription to give you a years worth of "current" issues. They did this for me before.

This doesn't help, but I have had the exact opposite experience with the magazine. As a matter of fact, when placing my subscription order over the phone, I asked them to send me the most recent edition (which had just come out) and it was in my mail box within 4 days of placing the order. Made my week!

I've wondered the same thing... I usually pick up an issue here and there from wal-marts or krogers in my area but I havent seen an issue on the shelf in over 6 months. Apparently they are still runnin but have they reduced the amount of retailers they ship to?

Being that I keep seeing people wondering where there issue is of this mag, it makes me wonder how much longer they will be around. This is the sort of thing that happened with RC Modeler before they evaporated. When a magazine is strong, their customers get there issues in a timely and regular fashion.

I could be wrong, they could just be the most disorganized, amateur operation they appear to be with someone always posting about where there magazine is.

What's funny is last month the editors column had a joke about them going to a weekly format. Lol, I'd settle for the monthly one that I paid for. There is no predictability to their schedule, sometimes they come out on the 2nd, sometimes the 15th, sometimes the 25th (at which point its a month behind). Seriously, if your subscription is that new, cancel it before they go out of business and buy it on the newsstand so you won't be out when the inevitable happens. I just killed the auto renewal I set up for mine, RCHeli is a joke. Pretty pictures, pretty good writing, HORRIBLE consistency.

New subscriptions always take a while to be processed with most magazines...and I don't know why.

If you have problem just send an e-mail to Mike he usually answers really fast.

Eury... for once, I totally agree with you. The typos, the omissions, the poor reviews and the delivery inconsistencies make this rag a poor example of our hobby. Wish someone else in the business would take this on. I think the rag is aimed at the newer younger hobbyists that don't recognize the garbage and leave sticky substances on the pretty pictures.

here's a replacement, I really like the mag, its as professional as fly rc (same publisher). For the time being, its 4 issues a year, but if enough convert, it could be monthly

Wow,

I wanted to say thanks for all of the responses, but..... Nothing in these comments gives me a warm and fuzzy about my subscription. And the Mag does seems to be getting thinner.

Crashr30,

If I can find Bobby's flying field I'll be there.

I gave up on them more than a year ago. I stopped getting my issues and finally asked for a refund. I received like 2 out of 7 months on a renewel! They said that was fine and I pestered them several times but never got a penny. I will never support RC Heli magazine again whether they make it or not.

I just subscribed to the Radio Control Heli Pilot Magazine mentioned above. It can't be any worse than RC Heli has been.

Can't be worse? Are you delusional?

Look at the current issue featured in the upper-right corner of the home page. I bet you can't wait to read about all the latest up-to-the-minute reporting from the event that happened 9 months ago!!

Same here, Not sure what the deal is with RC Heli, but they sure do not have a consistent method for reviewing or testing. One weird thing I read was the review on the Futaba GY701 in the DEC2010 mag. According to the author the GY701 performed flawlessly on the RadikalG30, but then in the same mag for the Radikal G30 review the same guy said the tail would lag and blamed it on the tail belt with the resulting score of 2.5 (never mind the fact that there are many 600 and 700 class helis with tail belts that are excellent performers)
A good idea would be to test the helis with some kind of measurable testing like sports cars are...
Items like power to weight, forward max speed, roll and Flip rate, climb rate, etc...
what do you guys think?

You just gave me an idea!!

all we need are 3 very funny British television presenters and a couple television cameras and an insanely rich budget.

But just what to call it?
