Hi

I have some strange head behavior I can not seem to figure out. I recently replaced the main, spindle and flybar rod due to a crash. Setup my paddle to 5deg and pitch 11.5/0/11.5.

On hovering the head is 100% in track, no funnies, yet a small sideways jerk, but I think it's due to engine tuning.

Also climbouts is ok, but when I hover and add cyclic forward or back the blades makes a serious swoosh sound almost like the pitch is to high and bogging the motor. ( in a hover )

I replaced dampers and thrust bearings, could it be caused by incorrect thrust bearing placement?

Sounds like a inbalance or non linear pitch on cyclics?

Please help.

What do you mean by that? The chord line of the paddles need to be parallel with each other.

You didn't mention replacing any of the bearings for the main shaft. If you hit hard enough to bend the main shaft, I'd be willing to bet at least the top bearing is damaged as well as the radial bearings in the head.

I'd start at the servos, checking everything (including striped gears) all the way to the head. Sounds like you're unsure about the thrust bearings. Easy enough to take it apart and check.

by any chance did the blades break in your crash or are you reusing them.

If your reusing the same blades they might have an internal break that you will not see but untill the heli puts load on it, it bends. try it in your hands checking for soft spots.

The cyclic deflection is 5degrees. Think recommended is 7/8deg.

I did replace main shaft bearings - all 3 of them.
I also replaced the thrust bearings in the grip. However I did not replace the bearings inside the grips.

The blades is a new set, I will have to check for soft spots on the new set. Servo's is fine, no stripped or damaged servo's.

Thanks to all for the good advice so far. I'll check and report back.

Ok so I managed to get rid of some of the "swoosh" sounds. Turned out that my cyclic pitch (elevator) as at 10deg forward. With a pitch of 12 deg positive on collective.

Hence the funny sounds on turns and climbs. Also the motor bogged due to the high total pitch.

Anyway now I realize my cyclic pitch is uneven. I have 8 and 5 on forward and back cyclic. (elevator)

On aileron (left and right cyclic) I have 6.5 and 7.

All links are 90deg on mid, swash is level 100% on full and low travel.

Linkages might be a bit out, due to blade tracking but that should not make such a huge difference. Please help to get them even.
