Has nothing to do with who smokes.

There has been an absolute epidemic of whiny posts about bad deals on RR and I always see who is in the right in them with very little effort.

Then, here comes one complaining about the way a heli smells?????

Seriously?

The seller is no doubt reading this crap and he's getting drug through the coals for nothing.

I mean NOTHING!!!

I would never ever ever consider selling to anyone on this site.

If you sell a perfect heli for a super price, somebody will complain that it smells bad or the box was the wrong color for their drapes.

It's sad really

I literally never use the word literally right.

hmmm.....

Maybe you should give it a go... instead of living in fear

I shall continue to beat a dead horse and say that RR is a GREAT place to buy and sell things (I have never been screwed or screwed anyone else)

Ya---there has been some whining lately...

If you like paying full retail, then please---don't use RR. It just might smell like smoke

Oh ya---I FLY my helicopters, Not sniff them

I buy used.
I expect used.
I never complain.Period.

I'll make a note of someone making shady deals.

I will not sell to any of these guys though.
There will be a problem more likely than not.

It shows here.
A good heli and good seller but the heli stinks

McKrackin definately has a point, but I don't think the OP was really trying to gripe about what he bought. Honestly, I never really gave it any thought until the OP brought it up. I don't think this is something serious enough get all bent out shape over though. Anything you buy second hand usually has a certain smell to it once it's sealed.....even new stuff. Once you crack the package open you usually get a strong whiff of whatever was in the air when the package was sealed. Not a big deal. Personally, when ever I am shipping something, I clean it well before I send off and something I'll even spray some of perfume in the package so it smells great when it's opened. I like to give a good impression to a buyer and it just sense of pride I like to portray.

If the smell of smoke bothers you, simply ask the sender if he/she is a smoker so you can at least be prepared for the odor when you get the package. I think most of the sellers here are courteous enough to accomadate the buyer as best they can and they'll at least wipe the heli down to minimize the odor. In the long run, I don't think even a non smoker would care if they were getting a deal on a well built machine. A smokey heli will still fly just a good so, it's not a deal breaker to me. The smell will usually disipate shortly anyways

The smell does not dissipate. Heck, even the charred frame that was on my 600 when an Align 100A went up in flames over 2 years ago still stinks.

I don't go around sniffing it, but if the humidity level is just right and its been sealed up in the vehicle, it can be very pungent.

That's because it's burnt.Not because it was in a room with a cigarette.lol.....

I just cannot imagine what part of a heli is so porous that it could permanently absorb smoke.

At least this thread was good for a couple of laughs.lol....

Thats a good one, seriously can people stop complaining on somthing that doesnt really matter? So it smells smokey, so what. If somthing is burnt on the product I can see a legite complaint.

Whats life without a lil danger

Swoop,
Yep, I know what you mean. I love the smell when ever you bust into a brand new kit. The smell of the preservation oil and new parts makes me crazy.

But, if smell bothers people so much, then nothing would ever get sold becuase everything from new heli kits to new and used cars has a smell. Different smells bother different people, I don't like stuff that smells smokey either, but that's when you just scrub it down good enough to thin out the scent. But, if the heli works and that's all you have to complain about then that's not enough grounds to create a "stink" about (no pun intended)

Again, I dont' think that was the OP's intention with this thread, but at least we have something to talk about which is why this thread is still going

Wonder if a cigar smoker has the same stink in there heli,s ! I am guessing the carbon fiber is porous enough to hold the chemical,s related to smoking, imagine what it does to your lungs. I am surprised that people have also experienced the same thing without wondering, I have bought countless rc models from different parts of the country, but first time it was bad enough to notice ! Happy flying !

I wouldn't mind cigar or pipe smoke. I am waiting for someone to say their freshly purchased used heli reeked of pot, 'cause you know there are some people on here that rock the spleef....

If I opened up my new heli box and perfume waffed up into my shop. I just hope my wife wouldn't walk in. She'd be like "WTH?"
