I'm sure all of your insurance is null and void if you hit something with an outlaw radio. But let's not get into that - again.

And just what mfgr. would have put 2.4GHz on the market ??

I know you do not know the full story but JR was decidedly the benefactor both long term and short of those agreements.

It took Futaba a year to get anything to market and then they had the Zero GUID problem. Sure today Futaba works fine. My point is that they were not even thinking in the direction of 2.4GHz.

Neither were the other Mfgrs.---- not ANY of them!

Give HH their due as they put 2.4GHz in the modelers hands.
Not only that but it worked right from the beginning and it still does. Some complaints on the web.? So what else is new ?

I suggest strongly that you buy whatever it is that you want and whatever brand it is that will make you happy.
I do. Why not you too.

I'm simply tired of the "Poor JR stories", none of which are correct.
Not even close to correct BTW.

Oh, and yes, I have JR equipment and have since January of 1981 which is well before HH came in to being.
Today I have Spektrum equipment as well as JR.
Never have had so much as a hiccup from either.

I put my money where my mouth is as the saying goes.
Tightest most reliable RC flying I've ever experienced. That covers 51 years in RC alone !

Your post makes zero sense to me unless you are strictly referencing the appearance of the 11X and the obvious similarity of the two new 8's.
Assuming that is true, I agree. It would have been more clear with a subject.

Then again, what new Tx in the last two years has been any kind of a beauty?
Not the 8FG, certainly not the A9, absolutely not the DX8 or DX7s or DX10t and the Airtronics stuff turns me off in person, even more so than in pictures.

All of them were bitten by the ugly bug !
While getting a bit long of tooth the 9303 series impressed me as one good looking Tx when announced.
Even today I'd pick it over any other on an appearance only basis.

The 10 series now morphed into the 12X was a good looking Tx back then. But not anymore.

Then we come to the control attributes. A different point entirely!

Interesting.

I thought it might be the trash from the Honda Accord / Acura design group.

While I have not seen the 8 in person it seems a tamed down offshoot of the 11X and as such might just be a decent appearing Tx .

Grrrrrr, digital trim on the throttle? No thanks, might as well buy a Futaba at that point.

I give up on Loctite, nothing lasts long enough to vibrate loose anymore.

That post needs explaining! Lack of digital throttle trim is what kept many from the JR/Spektrum brand of radios in the past. Spektrum was smart enough to put it on the DX8 and the revised DX7. It looks like JR got the message too. What is your reason for not wanting a digital throttle trim?

A mechanical trim makes starting/running a nitro much easier. No guessing about where the throttle might be, its easy to see and feel. I have run all digital and JR's 3+1; the 3+1 is far superior. On an electric it doesn't matter much.

if your running electric you will likely never touch the throttle trim.

even on my 85" yak with a gas engine the digital trim doesn't bother me.

i just use it to adjust the idle rpm.

Who cares... its just money...

Why are we settling for radios with grayscale 200x100 pixel LCD displays in 2011? I know displays aren't that important for a radio but come on. It reminds me of the graphing calculator industry: $200 for a calculator now that had the same hardware, software, and price back in 1999.

its because this xg8 is like 200$ and does other stuff than draw a couple parametric curves and factor

in all seriousness futaba is sure to cook up something crazy with the new 18 channel and i can't imagine JR is far from something in the same direction.

Agreed-I was not going to buy an 11X, when it was first suggested that it would have a digital throttle trim.

I cannot stand digital throttle trim.

I have used both the digital and mechanical throttle trim. I prefer the digital. With digital, you set and leave the throttle at a perfect idle for every heli in your fleet. With the mechanical, you have to adjust it every time, and every heli is different. A digital throttle trim needs a kill switch, while a manual does not.

Just another personal preference item.

XG8
Can we get back on topic? Talking to myself.

I like the looks of the XG8,

I like the Battery telemetry feature.

I don't like the LiFe battery, What I get from buddies flying them as Rx packs; they are either good or bad, and don't give much warning when they go bad.

I like the frequency hopping.

I don't like the idea of buying new Rx's.

After seeing spectrums vid on frequency hoping, I have concerns about DSM2 and quarter length v. full size antenna.

IMO - This radio would be a good competitor for the Futaba 8 channel. I like competition in the market. It benefits all of us.

Would someone please bring this radio to the US market!!!!

i was looking at the xg8 again day before last. and yes it does have a life battery but it looks well done and im sure will provide great reliability depending ont he discharge curve.

also the SD card slot is inside the battery compartment unlike the dx8 thus keeping debris out of it.

Who cares... its just money...

I hope the capa-alarm covers E-heli main lipo packs!! Been wanting this alarm for years. It sucks when timing flights & landing with capacity to spare or over discharging.

Bollocks.

English happens to be spoken/understood globally (albeit to varying degrees)
