CGY750 Expo
Hi guys.

I want to clarify something with respect to the way that the CGY750 has some built in (but still adjustable) expo in each of the flight mode choices plus the way you can still use expo in the transmitter.

I suggest you use it one place or the other and tune it accordingly, because the two expos are ADDITIVE. 30 or so percent in the flight mode plus a typical 30 or so that many guys use in their transmitter for a typical FB model will result in a distinct nonlinearity to the feel of the cyclics, esp when cyclic are turned up pretty high, because of the steep slope of the expo curved that has to catch up somewhere to still give the same total travel dictated by the AFR. When/if you choose to adjust it in the FBL controller, the expo is in the EXPERT menu for AIL and ELE.

I would like to thank everyone who PM'd and called me with their findings on this matter. I'm not taking credit for this clarification. I'm just putting it into words for everyone's benefit.

As in you're using the CGY as a single axis t/r only gyro for the time being?

I know what I think, but I want to ask to make sure. I don't completely trust a bench assessment to form a reply because of the fly-by-wire nature of FBL controllers.

I'll find out for you.

Guys,

To save you a little time (I think your answer is on vacation this week). A similar question was asked at one time and per the designer; all of the in/out delays, expo, etc are still active with the cyclic gain set to 0%. Setting the gains to 0% and using the cgy750 on a flybar helicopter is not a problem either. With everything set to 0 the control input will not be modified (other than swash type mixing and phasing adjustments you make in the cgy750). You can use the delays if you feel the model needs them, I doubt you'll need these on a flybar.

For a flybar I would set the flight mode to 5 and then 0 the ail/ele expo, 0 the ail/ele delay in/out, and 0 the ail/ele stop delays.

Regards,
Brian

I perfer on all my FBL systems to keep the expo on the TX so that i can change them as I see fit. I set different rates to a switch so that i can change the feel on demand.

I would concur that that is the better option.

Make sure you check the expo settings if you change flight modes in the 750. I had zero expo in the 750 on mode 4 and wanted to try mode 3. When I changed modes it put -30% expo back in the 750.
