Don't discount Nick Maxwell, he almost beat Curtis Youngblood at the USA Nats last year! He would have improved by now. Would be awesome if he made the top 3.

Also be great if Scott Gray won, he came so close last time. If he did, as a Canadian he would be the 3rd ever nationality to win. Only an American or Japanese has won in the past, same for the Team Championship.

This year might be more difficult for Curtis - considering what happen to his hand (see his blog for more details).

When Nick is done practicing, he'll be a force with which to be reckoned. He has absolute ice water in his veins and executes under pressure as well or better than anyone in the world.

His performance at our past US Nats was basically with less than 1 month of practice, really only two solid weeks of practice.

Agreed Ben! Nick is the Iceman!

Just read Curtis' blog. Damn, I hope his hand recovers 100%.

I believe Nick Maxwell will take first, if not, he will for sure be in the top three.

I don't know if he has ice in his veins, but he seems to handle pressure very well. He doesn't let the little things get to him like some others do. He will do quite well, I expect nothing less than a top 5. Could be a key factor in the US winning the Team title.Team Synergy/Rail, Team Scorpion, YS Engines, VelTye

Oh boy this will be fun. Let's see what I can stir up.

1. Scott Gray (flying nitro!!)
2. Hiroki Ito
3. Nick Maxwell or Nonogaki

I struggle with third though. I know Nick is a great pilot (and a good friend) and so damn talented but lets face it. Flying FAI is more than just skill. Its about how you present maneuvers and hide your mistakes... something that takes experience. Nick is the future of this sport, but just not yet.

I think all of the world class FAI pilots withstand pressure very well. The gap between Exellent Skill and Top Skill is big. Luck is also important in any competition.

My turn...

1. Hiroki Ito
2. Scott gray
3. Nick Maxwell

Ito is still the man to beat until someone proves they can beat him. I think Scott, Nick, Curtis, and Graber have a legitimate shot at topping him though. Am I forgetting anyone?Jamie Robertson
