550 gyro fiasco finally ended.
been fighting a wag since day one. had this heli for a couple of months now and it has gotten old fast. tried new bearings (full kit, ceramic even) new tail servo (ds620 out ds650 in) new gyro (gp780 to quark) all settings on stock esc, batteries ect. lastly today in desperation i pulled the gyro off the anti rotation bracket and popped under the rx tray. silk. i cant decide if its cause of the loacation or if i removed the gyro wires away from a rf annoyance. any thoughts? side note, the wag magically wasnt present during autos. im leaning toward dirty rf.
where are you fellas mounting the gyros on these 550s?

im not so sure about the anti rotation bracket though i know that most of time when gyro's are mounted on the tail block they seem to be temperamental.

on my 450 i mount my beast x on the frame rather than the anti rotation bracket out of paranoia due to the fact that the slightest of wobble of the swash (which is practically guaranteed) could cause vibes straight to the gyro.
Who cares... its just money...

I am running SK720 on mine, mounted down on the CF receiver tray. When I was running 3G the upper perch (anti rotation) made it a bit quirkyJim Senicka

Hey.

It's almost sounds to me like you have a vibration problem, many have had a persistent wag with certain Align gyros that require trial and error to put right, but as you fitted a quark and still had problems it makes me think you've got vibration.

My 3G sensor is mounted to the antirotation bracket with no problems at all, the metal antirotation bracket can cause problems I've read if fitted.

Relocating the gyro was the answer.

Same issue with my 500 ESP and the gp780. Moved it off the tail block to the lower frame brace and things started working well.

ya i havent seen a gyro twitch from rf in years. since i had a maxijoker that would have the tail twitch on spool up. moving it back even an inch hepled but whatever the case. its good now. flew six pack today on it and not so much as a hint of deviation.
