jr venture head upgrade
a little info for all you venture pilots. i recently was looking for a main rotor upgrade for my venture 50, good luck. i started digging through old parts and ran into an xcell pro head. it fit perfect on the jr main shaft, i used the jr swashplate but everything else was from the xcell. the only alteration i had to do is drill a hole farther up on the main shaft for the pin on the xcell head. worked out great, this thing flies smooth as silk now without all the play in the yoke. awsome. just figured someone could use this info. there is a little less travel because of the shorter jr shaft but not a real problem. would take that over the slop any day

dave0000,

What was wrong with the JR Venture head?

I just bought a JR Venture 50 in a Robinson R22 body by JR. It has almost no run time on it and is very tight. I'd appreciate knowing why you felt a change was needed.

Thanks,
This hobby is WAY too expensive!!

not cutting down the venture, i have 3 50s. just the way the dampening is on the head. im getting ready to put this particular one in a century long ranger fuse and wanted to try this to c if i got a little smoother action out of it. i did and am lovin it. i see a lot of people wanting to upgrade venture heads and wanted to let everyone know this is one option.

I have a five or six year old venture 30. The head or blade retainers was the first thing I didchange in addition to upgrading the exhaust. Blades stopped going out of trach then after making the head changes.

JR Venture 30 Head Upgrade
I have a 5-6 year old Venture 30 that I intended to use to "warm-up" my flying skills (beyond the simulator) after being out of the hobby for a while. I selected the V 30 since it was avail as an ARF.

While getting back into the swing of things, I found the performance in forward flight to be sloppy and then found I was not able to keep the main blade tracking constant. I lost all confidence in this bird.

Can anyone tell me if there is an off-the-shelf head I can use to replace the stock one with?

Are the xcell heads (like the above) still available for purchase?

Was drilling the main shaft for the new through-hole hard to do (because of hardened steel?)?
