Align Stock and Flybarless Mainshafts
Hi:

I would like to know why a flybarless mainshaft is sold for the T-rex 500 whereas the stock mainshaft is used with the flybarless head Align sells for the T-rex 500.

I have been told the flybarless mainshaft is about 0.5" shorter than the stock mainshaft.

Thanks.

Is no one using the FBL mainshaft in their T-rex 500?

i have a friend that is flying a Trex 500 with the 3G main shaft. it is only a few mm shorter than the stock. i'm using the stock and there really isn't much of a difference.

he is flying the Align FBL head and i am using an RJX both with a BeastX.

he started with the stock 500 main shaft and switched after a blade strike to the 3G. he can't tell the difference, but neither of us are hard 3D fliers.

if its a 1/2" shorter then you are lowering the rotor disk gyroscopic effect closer to the centerline CG of the heli. I would think this can make rolls more axial and quicker off center. Not many people would know the difference though.

it's a 3mm length difference (.118" )

it does lower the CG and improve response and roll rate, but only the top % of advanced pilots really notice the difference.

if you can fly hard 3D, it is probably a good upgrade for you. if not, save the cash for good blades! good main blades (FB or FBL) will make a difference.

Thanks so much for the info guys.

I don't think 3mm would make much difference either, even on hard 3D.

I've read it's a general consensus that a FBL head benefits from a shorter mainshaft.
