Great idea for a RR rule...part 2
I was browsing one of my other forums (car) and run across this rule. I started to post it then realized I had posted it before.

The part I am talking about is linking to ebay. Yes posting a price would be nice but that is not what I am talking about. Linking to ebay is just being to lazy to create a post for here.

Anyways, here is the rule that I think would be a good one to implement on here. All we need to do is get Mark to add it....

Whats your opinion on this?

Link to old post

Rule...
4. Private Sales - This is not ebay. If you are selling something, please make sure you list a price. Failure to do so will result in your item being removed! Please do not post links to E-Bay items. If you want to sell something, take the time and effort to create a complete For Sale post with a price.
Let me know if its a good idea, or if I should just drop it. I personally am tired of all the ebay adds on here. This would make it so much easier to look through the classifieds.
I might not be able to fly well, but I can crash with the best of them.

I won't even click on a classified add if it says ebay. I second your idea.

I wont click them either, but I'm tired of having to skip it. It would be better to just post an add. Really, how hard is it to copy and paste your ebay add to your RR post.....I might not be able to fly well, but I can crash with the best of them.

The current RR rules say this:
"Stating price is not mandatory but recommended.
Complaining about price is inappropriate and against policy."

I know. I just thought I would post the rule in its entirety. The main part of the rule I would like to see is the part about no ebay linking.I might not be able to fly well, but I can crash with the best of them.

The eBay links don't really bother me that much, but it is annoying when they mostly come from people who don't know how to use eBay effectively. RR is full of eBay-impaired people.

For example: Someone posts a gyro on eBay with the opening bid $150. The same gyro might be available in the RR classifieds from a handful of sellers for the same price.

It's no wonder the gyro on eBay will remain unsold and have zero bids.

The right way to sell it is to place the opening bid at $1. People WILL bid on it. It might sell for a little less than $150, or maybe a little more, but it WILL sell.
I'll bid on it and hope I win it cheap. Thats what makes eBay fun, and the whole reason people shop there.

Dood....I agree about how to use ebay. I enjoy bidding and seeing where it goes. What I dont like is seeing ebay links on the classified section. If I wanted to use ebay to buy it I would be going to ebay to begin with.I might not be able to fly well, but I can crash with the best of them.

Ebay links are fine with me. It's almost always about helicopter stuff so thats OK with me.
Since RR does not profit from sales, any link to another private sale is OK for me as long as it is helicopter stuff.
The case against politicians simply is that when they legislate for all men, they always omit themselves

It is kinda strange, you are allowed to link to E-Bay ( Ebay makes money off of you advertising on this site ) but you are not allowed to link to a sale on another forum . Seams like a double standard to me but I dont make the rules. Either allow all links or no links.

If someone does not list a price SO WHAT, You can make pretty much any offer you want. This would be a CRAPPY RULE. Plus everybody lists prices unless its a trade.Whats life without a lil danger

This reminds me not long ago a guy selling things here always without a price tag, but requesting making an offer. It ended up becoming a guessing game.

I would rather people list a price, doesn't really need to be a rule though. I don't bother with Make Offer listings. I don't have time to screw around with someones feelings getting hurt because you offered too low a price even though they didn't take the time to come up with a price, making it a guessing game.

Listing a price creates a starting point. Most of the time I just pay what they are asking because my time has value and losing time screwing with making offers and being rejected costs me more than the 10 dollars saved by dickering or not getting it because someone else like me just paid what they wanted. If the price is higher than what I want to pay I just wait a day. Inevitably someone else is selling the same thing at a price closer to what I had in mind.

I am going to go edit my original post to specify what I am after, but for now I will post it here.

I dont care if there is a price...although it makes it nicer. I want to get rid of the EBAY links. No reason to sell stuff on here that is linked to ebay.
