What happ to my Redline Muffler?????????
Guys, this happened during the very first flight this morning. I took a few loops and during fff i heard the engine rpm levels increasing. I slowed down to hover and then bang ! i see the redline drop its better half. in all i have had only 10 - 15 flights on it which have been great. i had just started falling in love with this combination of the RL 53 and the Rl pipe. its a work horse. however, this incident has left me confused and wondering at the quality.
has anyone been thru a similar incident. what could have caused this?

i use 20% fuel with an enya 3 in it. the engine ran just perfect with the backplate touch for about 5 seconds.

need your thoughts !

Same thing happened to me back when I flew nitros. I sent it back and got a replacement.

I caught mine before it got as bad as yours. It had developed a hairline crack all the way around in the exact location as your broke off. A little longer and I would have had the exact same thing happen to me.

They say vibrations can cause this over time...but mine was fairly new and I had no visible vibes.

Everything breaks and there are defects in every batch. I have long since given up on expecting perfection from the suppliers of this hobby. I had a $180 hatori do the exact same thing...so you can't always fall back on "You get what you pay for". It happens.

Sorry to see it happen to you.

Secondchance, don't fly what you can't afford to lose. At some point, some time, it's going in. AS to the specific, it looks like a fatigue crack that went unnoticed for so long it finally failed completely.

It's not a fatigue crack if it is only ten flights old, it's a bad joint! Take it back to the shop you bought it from and they should replace it!
It's not so common any more for the RL pipes to do that but it happens to the best of brands from time to time!
I have hundreds of flights on mine!

Yea, you can tell from his pictures that it is a fairly new pipe. All nice and shiny in there.

I agree with MartyH on the $$$ thing. It happens all the time. People over spend on their cars and then complain about the price of tires. Don't buy a 70k vette and then gripe cause your tires cost 2500 bucks.

If all you can afford are 400 tires, stick with the compact.

You gotta pay to play.

I hope you follow up with the new muffler and let us know how it lasts. I agree they are great looking pipes. A nice departure from the typical shiny aluminum.

muffler broken
Dear All

during production often can not create perfect welds, this does not mean that the muffler is not good, I also saw hatory with this problem, sometimes the MCB my muffler broke.
But important and the manufacturer's warranty, in this case is to replace the muffler with a new one.

On Its Way
well i had emailed the hobby shop (rotorhobby - singapore) regarding this defective muffler. they happen to be distributors for thundertiger in the asian region aswell. they in turn forwaded this complain to tt factory. unfortunately, till date there has been no reply from tt. so rotor hobby has been very kind enough to offer me a replacement from their side for me to have my model up in the air. so i should be getting my muffler in a week or so, finally

thanks guys
