Hi,

I have a Trex 450 Pro that has Align servos in it at the moment and last time I went to fly it one of the servos was twitching all over the place. While I've been waiting to decide what to do with it I ended up buying the FBL head for it and am going to use a Mini Vbar. Just wanted to know which servos are best for this little heli as I haven't been keeping up with the new technology that seems to be booming at the moment.

I've posted this in the Align section as well.

Thanks.

I use Hitec HS-5065mg with my mini-Vbar on the 450 pro. You have to use a round file to oval out the holes on all 3 servos just a little bit in order to get them to fit (~1/2mm). Overall, they work very well.

+1 on the HS-5065MG servos. I have them on a V2 with a miniV and a Pro with a standard Vbar.....both work great.

I've been using 5065mg/65mgs for years... I just orderd a set of Airtronics that have some pretty solid specs. I'll let you guys know how they work out. They're going into my Flybarless Furion Conversion.

I also use the HS-5065MG servos and they perform really well. The only issue that I have is that the FBL head really puts a beating on the servos when you crash. Metal gears do not help at all for the TRex 450 FBL when you crash, they will strip (the big gear with the output spline). I have several cases where the entire servo has to be retired after a crash due to the motor or controller being fried or that the servo case is cracked.

Since I know that the servo gears will break I have now replaced the second gear (counting from the spline) with a Karbonite gear instead of metal. That way I have a weak link that is cheaper to replace (half the cost of metal gears). Also since the main gear with the spline does not have to be changed then I do not have to redo the trim after a rebuild thus saving time. I also do not have to take off the ball bearing from the metal spline shaft which is a bit of a hassle.

Aside from this maintenance issue then the FBL 450 is a blast.

Are the MKS servos coreless such that maybe they won't be destroyed as easily in a crash?

Yes 12mm Coreless Motor I have not crash tested them yet though I have had the 5065's and had a few slow down after a crash it's strange they work but work slower than the other 2 servos maybe just happen to me though. Hitec always replaced them quickly for me

The Mini-Vbar requires digital servos.. The Hitec HS-65 servos is not.

No it does not you can use the 65s. The only time it does require digital servoes is if you have express. if you get the pro software you can change it

Yes, I have had the same thing. Not sure what causes it but they are of course useless for eCCPM once they slow down.

I have not tried the MKS but if they hold up better than the 5065's then they will be less expensive in the long run.
