I can't figure out why this swift power surges in hover. I spool up and lift off and everything seems fine until about 20 seconds into flight the tail will slowly surge right 6 inches and then back to it's original position and it does it slowly. The motor seems a little to warm and my battery is hot.
So I checked and adjusted tail, gears, bearings and motor meshing gear from binding. I had align bl600 and replaced it with a new century 600a plus,I also changed the speed controller which was a align75 with the century one that goes with the 600 plus.
And still power surging I also replaced the feather shaft and the receiver and the main shaft, and it still surges and the the motor gets warm and power loss,
The battery 5000 6s still seems to check out fine, And takes a full charge and all the cells seem to work....
I have gone over my gyro settings many times and even changed the gyro and also the gyro servo with the problem staying the same, but the pier source for the receiving is not from the motors lipo so that shouldn't cause the power surging..

Other then buying a whole new heli I don't know what the hell is wrong with it.

I even changed the motor gear from 11 tooth to a 9 tooth and still does the surges.
It's a swift16
520 woody blades
600 plus motor
9 tooth gear
Century. Speed controller, the recommended one for the 600 plus
Battery 5000 6S 22 volt. Thunder power.
9 channel spectrum rx
2000 tx battery for receiver.

I dont need a sig.....

Do you have any other batteries to try? What about that receiver battery? What voltage is it?

Whay gyro and tail servo?

The receiver battery is a standard nicad 4 cell receiver battery, but no I haven't changed it, but it's on a different power source then the motor..

When you spin the rotor by hands in the wrong direction (i.e. not using the one way auto bearing, the tail should spin) does it turn nice and freely. How many turns does it get after you stop spinning it?

What Head Speed do you use? What throttle curve? Do you use governor mode?

yes it spins freely, It turns about 3 1/2 turns after spinning, It does stick at first till it starts spinning but that maybe the magnets in the motor.

Im using pitch at 0-50-90
and sim with throttle curve, head speed is about 1900 to 2100.
would a bearing heat up and slow it down maybe?

gov off 1-2-2-2-2

Many ESC are set to surge when the battery power drops below a certain level. This is to signal you that it is time to land before damaging the battery. Continuing to try and fly may damage the battery, so you may well have a damaged battery.

So I would suggest that your battery is no longer able to put out the current it should under heavy load, even when showing a full charge. Even if the voltage checks out fine when you test with the very light load provided by a voltmeter, that voltage may drop way off when tested under a 50 amp load.

Of course all of this assumes that you have set up the ESC and your Radio according to the instructions

What is the KV rating of your motor? If it is the current silver cased 600+ motor, it would have an 1110KV rating so with a good 6S pack and wood blades you would not want to run more then a 9T pinion and set your ESC for a 85% or so Throttle setting. With the wood blades you will want to keep the rotor speed below 1800.
