I have a Castle Phoenix ICE-HV 120
"You should NEVER disconnect the red throttle" why?
And if I wont to in stall a separate RX battery pack what do I do?

P.S. sorry for the spelling or the grammar I am dyslexic!

You need the red wire to draw voltage from the Rx to feed a circuit in the ESC to prevent RFI to the Rx. Hook your Rx. batt. to any unused port or if all are full use a "Y"harness.

Well, it doesn't have a BEC, so you are good to go with your receiver battery.

It's easy to find an excuse to do wrong. Hard is not to find an excuse to do right.

I believe it is because the throttle output is opto-isolated. Therefore, it doesn't get power from the power system battery on the output side of the optical circuitry. It must get it from the RX power buss. Just a guess. I could be wrong.

Because it will not receive a "throttle signal" from the receiver if you do, because the throttle signal needs to be powered from the receiver bus at the receiver voltage.

Just power the receiver with the separate battery and plug in the ESC receiver plug.
But I can't remember if it's good for full 2S lipo voltage...
