I am intrested in buying either a 550 or 600 electric. ok here is my ?. the trex 550 can be converted to a 600 by only adding the 600mm blades boom and torq tube right, and the 550 uses many of the same parts as the 600, but the 550 is over 1 lb lighter than the 600, and also has direct servo to swash setup. I want my heli to be 600 size so which one is better?

I own both and find it hard to beleive it is truly a pound lighter. I tried weighing them but the only scale I have that can weigh over 5 lbs has .5 lb resolution and it shows .5 lb

All the parts are interchangable except the blades, boom, side frames, and canopy.

I would think it comes down to your flying style. For hard 3D the 550 would be prefered. If you fly big the 600 would be because it is bigger even with 600's on the 550. The 600 has a longer canopy and stands taller.

I do not have a power problem on either with both being FBL, which gives a big power boost the the 6S 600

The main problem converting a 550 to 600 is the frame stiffness in 3D flight. Using two frames stacked will help. If you are doing AP or scale you don’t need to worry about the frame stiffness. There is supposed to be a new version of the 550e out soon with a new and much stiffer frame design.

All the magazines are showing photos of the new 650e so you might want to wait. I think some of the other forums are saying it should be available in July or August. It will have a frame design similar to the 700e which has much better battery access allowing for better cg adjustment.

Trex 650 appears to be a mini Trex 700 with the sliding battery tray and motor on top.

That’s the one that I want. I never liked the 600 design.

12s is what the new motor they are making for it is designed around.

i totally want the new 600.

i currently have the 600CF version that has been heavily modified to my likings and it fly's great but is on the heavy side. not that it really matters with the 4035 motor yanking it around.

also have the 700E and would put that before anything if it came down to the choice.

Who cares... its just money...
