Thanks for the offer, but I am quite happy with mine

If one of the best heli's in the world can't make you happy, I am not sure what can, regardless of price. I happened to be ready to buy a new one after seeing them at a fun fly and stumbled on the deal on RR.

The reason your point won't stick is because you don't have one.

You purchased a heli with plastic blade grips even though you admit you don't like plastic?? Then you gripe that the manufacturer should be supplying metal ones, yep we are all confused.

Sure the FBL kit comes with metal main blade grips and that's because the plastic ones aren't designed for the job, not that they are inferior or anything. You can't argue that they should be included just because the FBL version has them. Otherwise peeps that do have FBL could equally be arguing that they should get a discount as they don't have the 'extra' FB, cage, links, paddles, bearings etc. in their kits. It's just not how it is and you need to accept that.

If you were prepared to pay even more for your kit, then they would be included, i.e you get what you pay for.

A crack in the canopy, take a photo of it and send it to MA. If it's very bad (fibreglass cracked) I'm sure it will get you a new one, but a crack in the laquer probably won't. Or take it to your LHS and explain that it looks like it was damaged in transit and could you get a refund/discount/swap etc.

It sounds like you have worked yourself up about this and are never going to feel happy with it, so maybe the best thing to do would be to rid yourself of this thorn.

If you do build it up though, don't come back later telling us how good it is!!

fastflyer20,

Best heli in the world is simply an opinion. But I will respect your opinion. I too think it was a decent looking rig and that why I bought it. Didn't notice all the plastic untill after I broke the seal and opened it but owe well right. No bargain when compared thats for sure.

Dauste,

I strongly feel I do.

You may be right but MinAir didn't comment a peep on that did they? I admit I haven't contacted them yet though. The glass is broken though small broken is broken.

Yes, thats kind of the direction this has gone. Some have tryed to soften this experiance for me.... you like poking the bear. But you have a valid point so give you this one. Thorn is for sale.

Dauste, this is an open forum isn't it?!!!! I am discussing my situation. If I can't sell and build it and I become happy with it, then it is my choice to come back and say how good it is! Don't go there!

Dauste, When I started I said this wasn't a lash out toward MA or anyone representing them, also any faithfull followers/owners I might add. If your just poking the bear to instigate a problem MOVE ON Dauste! If your looking for friendly discussion than fine.

I'm puting this in the corner if it doesn't sell and taking a breather.

My 2 Cents...
IMO MA makes probably the best quality heli there is. Ya can't compare an align metal heli to a MA heli, there is no comparison. You pay for what you get. If you want bling, by all means buy an Align or similar, but it will have a ton more slop etc then the "horrid" MA heli.

I guess that is what I have a tough time understanding. I am selling a stratus HR version for 1k with everything needed to fly and nearly new, but no buyers as of yet.. People want to newest thing out, not the best quality thing. Marketing is amazing! Actually someone wants it, but might of talked him out of it due to him being fairly new to helis and would hate to see him crash it and lose that kinda cash and I told him he might be better off with a cheap align or the likes.

It is a buyers market now and you will get a deal on any heli you want. If I wanted a flybar heli, I would buy it from you as I am looking at a furion 55 flybarless version as I am a flybarless person and have no need for my 90 anymore as I have a TDR Rigid that fits that nitch, but my 50 class will be the fury 55 although my grips will be metal due to being the FBL version. My 1200 stratus airframe has plastic grips. Before all the cheap chinesse crud came around MA and Hirobo were the cats meow and guess what, they are made of plastic mainly.. Hirobo is known as one of the best and they use tons of plastic as does MA and no other heli will stand the test of time as both of these brands do it just has been in the last few years the "bling" is the thing, look at the failure rate of these helis though that have CHEAP metal or similiar parts and people wonder why they fail.

Dude, my responses are light hearted (with the usual sprinkling of English sarcasm that doesn't travel well). Of course this is an open forum and I would be more than pleased to see you build that heli up to prove a point and post back here with your experiences of it. I can't guarantee you anything, but if you don't try it how will you ever know?

2 more cents...
All I can say is I've had many helis from just about every manufacturer out there, some blinged, some not. Some had very soft feeling metal parts which didn't give a good "feel" when parts were tightened down enough, leading to stripped screws, etc. I've had metal headblocks from other manufacturers oval out on the bottom without being crashed, leading to a wobbly head and constantly drifting controls. I've never had this kind of problem with an MA kit. They are engineered to have the strength they need, where they need it. These are trouble-free helicopters that you pretty much just gas and fly and the parts don't seem to wear out nearly as fast as some others. I've seen many guys at the field changing metal parts out for other metal parts in the pursuit of better performance, but you won't see that with the 55. The 55 has the most slop-free control system I've seen and the resultant flight characteristics have made it my favorite heli. The amount of control you feel will make you want to push your limits. It's just sweet! I'd see if anybody near you has one you can try out before you let it go, I think you'll really like it if you give it a chance. If you don't, you can get rid of it and know you made the right decision based on your own taste. All I know is I love mine and wouldn't trade it for any other 50 out there.
Best wishes, Steve
