I have friends who use Hyperion batteries. I would also think the Align lipo would fit in it.

What ones have you tried? Align and Hyperion should fit.

God, not that stupid video again (okay, it's kinda funny).

I have not had any battery slide in and out. Right now I have an Outrage battery in there. I had to loosen the case screws a bit to slide it in and tightened the screws back up. The downfall is I cannot get the battery back out so I charge it with the battery in the starter. There is a risk of course, but I am willing to live with it. Considering I am coming up on two years of use out of it, it could catch fire tomorrow and I'd be fine. I have more than gotten my money's worth out of it.

Cute video Have to admit, the Align starter could use some ergonomic redesign. The button configuration isn't kind for pilots like me with small hands. I always feel like it's going to twist right out of my grip when my engine hydrolocks. And it seems to act like a jack hammer when it turns. Oh well. I still use my trusty 12 year old Hobbico Torque Master 90 when my Align starter can't turn my 91 over. Starts every time when I use the Torque Master.

if I wanted to hammer my heli like that I would just start it with a cordless drill... there is a reason for using direct drive starters. funny vid.

I always thought that video was funny because they are putting down Align, yet they were starting Trex 700s

I don't think it was targeted at align as a whole... just the starter.

Yeah, I think by now most people know that for the most part, Align makes pretty good products....namely, their heli lines. I like Align, but I also know that not all of their products are that great. I bought the Align starter like every else did, but it's not comfortable to hold and seems to piss my engine off more than it helps to start it.

I'm not sure if the "jack hammer" effect is an intentional design feature or just a bad byproduct of a hastey release.

Yea, no doubt the align starter is a pile, I broke mine in the first 6 weeks....repaired the 1st time and I had enough on the second...... Bought a Sullivan, it just plain works

it "jack hammers" because they used a really small high rpm motor and geared it down. to get a smooth start you have to have a larger motor that is direct drive.
