Hi there,

I just picked up some old but cool looking Crickets and wanted to know if anyone has an extra engine or two for sale?

They look like this...

Thanks!

Yes, that engine will fit. However, you will need the drive washer for it to use the Cricket clutch and flywheel.

OS 32
Steve!

Was good to reconnect on here for sure! I use to go into Pat's hobby when you worked there!

Will the OS 32 work on this bird as well? That's a little more common and easier to find!

Gentlemen,

Again, yes the OS 32 will work. There is no drive washer on the engine pictured above. You will need this to mount the Cricket flywheel and clutch assembly. I used an OS 32 on mine for a while and it worked out fine. Now, I use a vintage K&B 3.5cc (21) engine with an old Team Associated R&A Heatsink Head for, what was then, the RC-100 thru RC-300 line of 1/8 scale pan cars. Sounds kinda wierd, huh? Well, the K&B 3.5 is mentioned in the service bulletins as a suitable engine and was known in its day for being an engine that you could rev the living s**t out of, with no ill effects. You know what? It still is today! I use a slightly larger pulley on the intermediate shaft which allows the engine to fly the helicopter in the "MEAT" of its power band. Basically, the rotor head speed is normal, but the engine is cranking. It works well and never overheats with the big block head on it. Also, the engine uses a composite "perry" carb, for those of you who know what that is, so I have no vapor locking problems with a hot metal carburetor. The only thing is that, being the K&B is a rear exhaust engine, you have to have the special GMP/Tatone K&B muffler, of which I have several. Actually, I would have never chosen to go this route but I found a guy selling a new bunch of the required special muffler. Believe it or not, I bought all of the mufflers he had, then had to find an engine for them on Ebay! Talk about backwards, huh?

I'm SOLD!
Thanks Larry!

I'll keep an eye out for it! I have 3 os .32 sitting here... Let's start out with the vintage motor and see how she does and we'll bump her up to the .32 I was worried that he mounting bracket would not fit!

Steve, I wish you were still in Hickory Hills! I could just drive over to you. My friend lives right by PGN game place on 95th.
