I understand Spartan is working on a flybarless system.

Does anyone know much about it? When is the release date?

Are they in flight test yet? Who is flight testing it?

Etc., etc......

Saturday morning I flew my helicopter in my pajamas
How it got in my pajamas I'll never know

Do a google search for spartan flybarless and you will find a link to another site that speaks about this from back in December. The owner of the company chimed in and had every opportunity to indicate whether they were or weren't in the works. He did nothing but comment on current pricing and quality and, I might even say, bashing his competitors.

I love spartans, but that thread speaks volumes. Spartan is way too late in the game at this point.

Maybe they will, maybe they won't...but they are certainly staying tight lipped about it. At this point, I don't really care if they ever do release one. I own 2 already and have no reason to buy any more. Had they already been out with one, I would have probably bought from them having had 3 of their tail gyros in the past. I loved them. But they have totally missed the boat on this one.

Tail gyros are becoming a thing of the past. As more and more people switch to FBL and the prices come down down down, there will be less and less reason to buy just a plain tail gyro. You can buy a complete FBL unit and only use it as a tail gyro and you still have room to grow into it if you ever choose too. It seems to me that spartan should have seen this coming and rode the wave.

Totally bad business decision on their part.

Gassers Rule, Nitros Drool, Electrics...uhhh...Joule?

When their main rep (raptorheli2) posted about the GY520 when it came out:

https://rc.runryder.com/t505480p3/

They guaranteed there and then that I won't buy Spartan. Their activity on the forums has been dubious to say the least.

No way on earth those parts came off like that. I went with the GY520 and couldn't be happier. I will certainly go with the Futaba flybarless when the time comes.

When Spartan gets theirs on the market that will make Spartan and Futaba the top gyros just like the rudder only days. Spartan is like Futaba they make sure they have a mature product before marketing it (unlike brand “A” – LOL).

Futaba differs from Spartan in one significant aspect.

They have substantial engineering resources and money. When they focus an effort on a product they tend to do an excellent job.

Well, so will Spartan. They've always been shut as oysters up until release, so nothing new there. BUT they're late - comp. on FBL systems is fierce at this point already.
