so they got training balls on and they equip it with rockets which is already a blantant disreguard for AMA rules not to mention they should be put in front of it and shot at for doing this -- we got enough problems with the GOV as it is---- totally stupid IMO these are the poeple that make it tuff for the rest of us

Sorry to say it to a new pilot, but I have to agree that seeing a heli with training gear doing something as potentially dangerous as launching rockets is not cool at all. If you (they?) want to be an accepted member of the RC community, then you (they?) need to try to be more responsible and seek out information about what our community is about.

From the training gear and this post, I can only assume that you (they?) are new to the hobby. I urge you (them?) to seek out more experienced RC enthusiasts to learn how to fly safely.

you know what's worse is that FPV video from New York...he gets within 20 feet of the Statue of Liberty's head.

The government isn't worried about stuff like bottle rockets, it's this kind of thing that they're fretting about.

Personally I don't think fireworks on a heli gives this hobby a bad name, it's just another aspect of the hobby.

It doesn't matter what a few guys do in their backyard as long as they aren't being malicious or have bad intent.

Hell, go on YouTube and you can see tons of r/c helis and UAV's shooting all sorts of ordinance...this is how the UAV programs were developed.

It's already pretty obvious that r/c planes can shoot stuff off of them...look at the Air Force Predators.

I think one of the key aspects of bottle rockets and fireworks on RC helicopters is there are people out there with political authority who are looking for reasons to control our activities.

There will always be BoneHeads doing BoneHead things. Hopfully, we as a community can have some influence in curbing some of these activities.

Sometimes, just a lot of posts about responsible flying can have an influence on someone.

THERE ARE ALREADY TOO MANY CONTROL FREAKS IN POSITIONS OF AUTHORITY. LETS NOT GIVE THEM MORE REASONS TO TRY AND CONTROL OUR FLYING.

I'm not too scared of bottle rockets or roman candles. We used to shoot each other with these things when we were kids, so mounting them on a heli is not the end of the world.

Mounting guns on helicopter is another story. Guns can kill. Bottle rockets hardly leave a mark (unless you get hit in the eye).

Can you imagine if they let people carry guns in America, let alone mount them to toy helicopters.

Wow...that's scary.

Ohh, and guns don't kill people. People kill people.

Remember that when we lose our right to fly RC heli's due to some stupid stunt like this. The FAA is always looking for a way to take us out of the sky.

Whos to say that some terroist couldn't get an idea about how to kill more people that he already is trying to anyway? It's not just the heli comunity that watches forums on the net. As stated before it'll be because of posts like this that gives BIG BROTHER ammo to shoot us down and outlaw private UAV's all together.

As stated before
Alot of us have been shooting bottle rockets and roman candles at each other(as kids) and I mean alot of us. So you can still buy those right? I doubt our liberties will be taken away for some kid that cant fly with bottle rockets on his 450. He might get grounded or his video game priviledges taken away but come on...

On a side note, what is that guy flying that goes around N.Y.?

The above are AMA rules. They are not Law.

The people experimenting in those videos are excersizing their right of freedom. Live with it.

The problem is just what ole T. Jefferson said.

From the Thomas Jefferson Encyclopedia

Quotation: “When governments fear the people, there is liberty. When the people fear the government, there is tyranny.”
Variations:
“When governments fear the people, there is liberty. When the people fear the government, there is tyranny. The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.”
“Does the government fear us? Or do we fear the government? When the people fear the government, tyranny has found victory. The federal government is our servant, not our master!”
