And the shop where it was purchased from had better get some combat boots on their kidneys on Saturday morning when I arrive.
Gee, threatening violence, you must be one of those soccer thugs we read about.

I think about the hereafter. I go somewhere to get something, then wonder what I'm here after ?

Let me preface my post by saying that I am a Futaba user for the most part. I just got a DX8 a couple of weeks ago. I can say that the DX8 aint pretty. I looks much more like a toy than any of the Futaba and JR TX's I've used.

I got my DX8 for several reasons. First, it allows me to purchase and use Bind-N-Fly stuff. This includes the inexpensive planks that my LHS has on the shelf or from HH and others. Second, I like the telemetry, although Futaba and every other radio manufacturer will have this capability shortly. Third, it has flexible, powerful and easy to use programing. More so than any other a sport class radio on the market IMO (note: I consider the 12FG to be semi-pro level). It even has a digital throttle trim (one of my pet peeves about previous Spektrum and JR radios). Fourth, the firmware can be updated by a simple download like most/many Futaba radios. You can even download the TX programing for many popular HH Bind-N-Fly models right off the Spektrum website (how user friendly can you get)! The gimbals are not too bad either. Not in the same league as a pro-level Futaba (9Z, 12Z and 14MZ), but very close to the 12FG and even the venerable JR12X IMO.

I have always been skeptical of DSM/DSM2 non-hopping/shifting technology. I've seen too many crashes from low RX power voltage and lost signal at both my local field and at large RC events. I firmly believe the new DSMX has finally made the Spektrum 2.4GHz system safe and reliable. There are at least 20 guys at my local RC field who now use the DX8. Not a single problem has been reported yet. I don't doubt that some are having issues with their DX8's. It is a new system. Spektrum will surely improve this radio with new firmware and service bulletins.

I agree with those who said the OP should have given HH a chance to make things right before making such a negative post. This radio may not be the prettiest, but it has some great potential. Hey, if an admitted Futaba fan can give it a try, the OP should give it a chance too. That's my long and winded 2 cents.

Whats their benefit package like?
You get to own the worlds most advanced 8ch radio, at a great price. Also you get to help work the bugs out. And best part you get to complain all you want. And to boot, you get to have smilly face fist fights with other brand users.

Person A:
Futaba is Best.

Person B:
Futaba Sucks, JR Rules.

Person C:
Both suck Spektrum Rules.

Or person D.

I like all 3! Never had an issue with any radio I've owned. I'm sure if I did I would keep it to my self and get it fixed or stop using the radio. Everyone just pick a product for whatever reason you like.

Now on the other hand, if one of the big 3 makes an announcement that their radios are killing people. Please post it here so we can be extra careful.

I've never met a helicopter I didn't like :)

Yep I've owned all three brands myself, and they all gave great service. But I bought all mine used, they had been used, and well tested. I prefer used, and newer versions, that have had updates. I never buy first batch of anything. Like radios.

Hello all Heli flyers,
This is my first post and its about the Spectrum DX-8 I have much respect for Spectrum radios however my DX-8 kept loosing its bind and thankfully it was going on during set-up. Called HH was treated good and sent the TX in for a checkover-said nothing found on their bench testing. Has firmware 2.01 installed. Seems to be working right now might be because its looking at my new 9503 tx

Hello,
Let me first say im sorry if offended anybody with regards to the DX-8 I use Spectrum products in all my helis. Wanted to upgrade my TX and thru all the missleading posts I beleived that it was the best choice. JR uses Spectrum technology and they work together in producing really great equipment. I still have my DX-8 and it will be used at some time. The telemetry was what really got me interested because there is an electric bird coming soon. Those are some cool features to have. Did get to see a lipo pack have a melt down once bet that if the temp was known in flight it would have been landed.
What does it matter what is used when there is just so much fun to be had!!

Dirk, please do us a favor and post back here in a week or so when you get your radio back and find out how nice the DX8 really is. DSMX solved the biggest problem Spektrum and JR had with their 2.4GHz systems. Patience is a virtue!

Chickenrun, there are many bad pilots who always blame their equipment. Not saying your guy is a bad pilot, but if he's not then I'm inclined to think he is not too bright. Who would keep using a radio that keeps crashing one model after another? Most would send their radio in for repair after the first crash!

Rexxigpilot,

I have to agree with you there. It would be like saying every ford you ever drove you wrecked. But if you did try driving a chevy you would wreck that too.

I've never met a helicopter I didn't like :)

Yes I would agree there

The guy was told the receivers were the problem, so he kept using the DX8 tx in various models ets ... 2 helis and the rest planks that we not bothered about as much

I don't know the guy personally as a friend, but I know for sure he had many problems with his radio gear it just seems that the DX8 is a problem, his old (sold on) DX7 was perfect to him, so he's not a complete beginner etc ...

Cheers.

Cheers

Back from horizon
I waited to post until I had a few flights in. I had an issue with pots not centering. It is working great now on V-Bar with 2 DSMX satellites. I had it back from Horizon in 6 days.

Man I really want to buy this radio, but with all the bad posts I'm a little reluctant. Even if the reported crashes were pilot error, I can't help think the radio has some flaws. When I fly my birds, I want absolute confidence in my radio.

Brand new radio came yesterday from HH....reason being...."both gimbals faulty, new radio sent for customer piece of mind"

Can't really fault HH for trying, but I haven't even opened the box.....it will go straight to LHS to be swapped with a dx7se like I had before

Never had a problem with dx7's and have had two of them

I have no confidence in the new radio and will never use it so it can go.

Hope all you who have dx8's have no trouble with them at all but I won't buy another

Happy flying
