I'm trying to decide what governor to run on my new Helibug Trex 600 conversion. I am using a Zenoah G270RC motor. I will be buying a used governor and would prefer something easy to set up and reliable, I don't want or need a lot of bells or whistles, hopefully something simple. I didn't run a governor at all on my 1005 I had previously, but I do want to get maximum performance out of this heli for 3D flying and thought a governor would probably be best. I am also using a Spektrum DX7 tx and 7100 rx. Thanks for the help.

I run a GV1 on my 1005 and Spectra [being built now} and it was rather easy to set up IF you do a search here and find Raja's setup for the GV1 and print it out. It goes into the "hidden menu" with little tweeks and the basic setup. Without that I would have had problems I fear as I had never set up a GV1 before. Better yet you could find one used for cheap money as it is a rather old unit and many new Gov's are on the market that guys want to blow their money on for the newest thing.
Get 2 GV1's and put one on your 1005!

Setup is everything, All my heli's can fly far better than I can pilot them

I use a GV 1 on mine. I made a little bracket to mount the GV-1 sensor on my frame next to the engine flywheel magnet. Works great.

There should be some pics in my gallery if you want to see how it is mounted.

Governors are great, they take the guess work out of getting a perfect throttle curve and can prevent overspeeding, something a throttle curve can not accomplish.
Running the 5.1 Vbar with built in governor on my T600G.

Thanks for the input, I'm leaning toward a GV-1, but has anyone tried a Spektrum AR7100R? Seems like it would be nice to have the governor built into the RX.

The G600 Align not working
Will this gov work on the Zenoah 29 with the Hanson mod, Rx-Spectrum AR7000, and JR9303Tx?
I have tried 2 of them and neither one worked. The heli would go to idle when I switch to gov mode then 2 sec later it scream like it is on the throttle curve. Somebody HELP.

No, the Align governor will not work. I believe some folks were able to trick it into sorta working by installing 2 magnets face up so that it reads twice. Normally you reverse the magnets so it only reads one. But even doing that, I believe it only operated well at a certain range.

It is simply made only for nitros and should be completely avoided for gassers.

GV1 has proven to be the work horse governor for gassers. Tried, tested, works and offers the most options with the greatest flexibility. And there are always a few here and there going for cheap in the classifieds.

Hard to believe the things retail for over 100 bucks!! I have never paid more than 40 for one and I have owned 3. I think I have invested less in ALL 3 than what it would take to get a new one.

Edit...I lied. I just remembered...I paid 50 for my first one. Oops.

Gassers Rule, Nitros Drool, Electrics...uhhh...Joule?

Like you Rototerrier have four GV1 on four different gasser all secondhand and no problems, one is using a "Stator Gator"the others the stock sensors on the usual fabricated brackets.Simple to use once you get familiar with the unitJust make sure you put in accurate info(Gear ratio)ect, and you wont go far wrong.

That's my governor of choice too!
I would have liked the new one from Futaba but my only issue with that is not being able to turn it off in flight with a JR radio. I feel that option is pretty important to me, so because of that I stick with the gv-1 instead.

And with the tuning parameters that I developed in the basement one wintery night bench testing it, its become much more gasser friendly.

Man you guys are awesome.
This is my first gasser. and it has been a serious learning curve. I have been flying nitro for 13yrs.

I have: JR 9303Tx, 29RC motor, gear ratio 6.76, RJX muffler

So, correct me if needed.
I need the following:
1-Stator Gator
2-GV1
3-I use the mod brace and place the sensor on the side of the motor.
4-Read the string by Raja on radio set up.

The Stator Gator for your engine is just plug in and play, then you do not need to use the GV1 sensor and homebuilt bracket or worry about positioning the sensor in the right area around the case. The Stator Gator is the easier way if you do not want any hassle.I think Raja,s GV1 menu mods are used by most people here now that use gassers including my own GV1,s.

Give it time, the gv-1's show up for sale about at least one per week.

Which is worse, ignorance or apathy? I don't know and I don't care!
