For the Trex 600 with a 10S setup, what's the popular battery capacity and how much flight time can you safely get? Is 10S 3300mah enough? 3800mah...too heavy?

Thanks, Scot

I am currently building a 600e and plan to go 10s. I have the same question as you do. Hopefully someone will jump in here and answer that for both of us.

I'd say it simply a flight time vs. performance trade-off. Which is more important to you?

For me, I don't need a ton of power. If I could get .50 nitro performance, that would be more than enough.

If you do the math:
Stock 5000 * 6 / 10 = 3000

So a 3000 10s should be about the same weight and flight time as the stack battery. A 3300 would probably be ok. Batteries vary in weight so be sure and check the weight before you order and don’t get heavy batteries.

I settled on 8s 4000 for a couple of reasons.
1. CG comes out perfect with Turnigy nano-the batteries (4s 4000 *2).
2. My favorite ESC is the ICE 100 and it works with 8s LiPo (not 10).
3. My charger will fast charge 8s in 15 minutes.
4. Definitely more power than stock and a little more power than a nitro 50.

I have been using 2 5s 3700mah batteries in series for a few years in my 600. Im currently using outrage ngr packs. No problems with balance. Flys great!

Thanks, guys! I am trying to decide between two 5S Thunder Power 65C packs, either the 3300 or 3850mah. The 3850s sound like a safer bet (and I won't have balance issue with my helicopter) but they're quite a bit heavier than the 3300s. What's the typical flight time on a 6S 5000mah Trex 600?

2050 HS is about 3:50, with a little cusion (say 70% discharge rule) with 6S 40C 5000, Neu 1515H/2.5D motor(1650kV) w/11T pinion, 600D blades and FB'ed.

Compared to my 10S 5000mah scale 600 setup - 9:30. Spinning about 1700for HS on Tonic-X50 (800kV) w/12T. Much heavier with the fuse, though - so not a fair comparison.

6s 5000 3D flight time using 100% flat at around 2200 rpm would be around 4 mins. 10s 3000 would give about the same flight time.

60% of the time, it works every time!

Thanks...sounds like 10S 3300mah might give 4:30...not quite enough for me so will go with the 3850mah packs and sacrifice some performance. Should still be good enough for me.

That is going to be one heavy 600! How long do you usually get on a standard E heli? I said 4 mins but thats me.

I am starting to progress into some 3d now on my 600n and would like to set this 600e up to perform 3d as well. I would like to have a decent flight time if I could, but I guess I would have to say that I'm more interested in power/performance than in flight time. I am thinking of something around 3000 to 3300mah and going with 45c. Hopefully this will give the power i'm wanting to see and still allow for 4 mins or so of flight.
Thanks for the info guys.
